Comment:

Hassel is a great professor who cares about his students and their grades. His 207 Mars and Beyond class has a lot of reading but all of the books are interesting and pretty easy to read. Class time is spent either discussing the reading or working on an essay that you have to write for each book. Easy class along as you stay caught up with reading

Comment:

Hassel is awesome. Grades fairly, puts lots of emphasis on improvement, and always wants to help. He has a personal story for literally every topic that comes up in class so he's very entertaining and makes class fun. Does a good job explaining readings, especially the tough stuff and really just wants to see students succeed. Take his class!!!

Comment:

Mr. Hassle is an excellent instructor. I took the Mars and Beyond (203) course and loved it! He worked hard to ensure everything read and discussed was relevant and up to date. You are given ample class time for all papers, and you do a required "1 Pager" which he reviews to ensure you are going in the right direction. I would highly recommend him!

Comment:

I took the space exploration class. Lectures never felt long because of his constant humor and love for space. One of the easier graders I've had when it comes to papers. 4 papers and 1 group "Project" (Every group read 1 chapter and did a summary of it and read it to the class). Would definitely take him again.

Comment:

Professor Hassel is my favorite professor this semester. It is the end of my first semester in college, and this was my very first college class. He is so funny that sometimes you forget about the time. He goes off topic quite a bit, but it is still related to the subject material. I would definitely recommend taking Mars and Beyond for ENGL203.

Professor Hassel is extremely laid back and often gets off topic, but he is very funny. He supports students and their ideas about literary works and poetry. He means it when he says "There are no wrong answers." Expect 1-2 one page reflections a week. Class was more reading based than writing based. Only 3 major papers. No tests. Loved him!

Easiest english class I've ever taken. Wrote average papers and got "full marks" (yes, that's what he wrote) on each one. The first essay was an essay on what you would write an essay on if you had to write and essay on the book we read. He really eases you into college and there is not a lot of work. Class is fun and he tells a lot of stories.

I kept forgetting I was in an English class--it was more of an intense, but weirdly fun, dinner table discussion about the books we read. Do the reading and show up to class and you'll be surprised how fun it is, especially because he loves dissenting views and debate. Don't do the reading and you'll wonder what everyone is talking about.

I wish the guy was still in the U.S., but he moved to England. He must be the most abstract person on the planet, and his classes follow suit. This means that if you are a stiff business major you will probably hate the class (though you'll like the teacher), but if you have a mind that is capable of actual challenge, you'll love it (and him).
