He is one of the best professors I've had. You will only have 4 tests, 4 exams ( 5 if you want to take the last exam; takes the best grade out of all), 2 papers, and a SONA Research. You can use notes for the tests but not for the exams. It's an easy A if you show up and take notes.

He definitely cares about what he teaches. You can tell he loves psychology. He lectures with slides for notes. Concepts he presents are easy to understand.

Great prof. Lectures are interesting and good videos. Fair and knows how to teach. No tricks - Go to class and do the work. Good or bad grade is on you. Term paper is ok. Book not used much. Loved the class even though it was a core. Will take him again if I can.

He is very nice, understanding, and a great teacher. To engage students he recreates famous psychology experiments with his cute dog.

Dr. Ickes is an incredibly smart prof, but Psych 101 was extremely boring for me. i am in athletic training so this subject really was not an important enough to prioritize. Open note quiz's but not on test. next to no homework but make sure you study for his tests, pretty hard.

I had Dr. Ickes for Psych last semester. I thought I's be bored as it was a core class. It ended up being my favorite class! Loved the workbook and he has some good videos. He was organized and wants you to learn. Don't buy the book but get to class. Not throwing shade on anyone else, but he is the best. Ask around. You will want to take him

Amazing professor. He really covers the content in a way that makes sense. Quizzes are open note and then the exam is the next class period. You have to write one APA paper, which kind of sucks. But overall, he is an amazing professor and I recommend taking one of his classes before you graduate!

I may be slightly biased because i am a psych major, but he is one of the best professors i have ever had. He makes class interesting and makes you want to be there learning the material. Very helpful and willing to spend extra time to make sure you understand the material. Easy grader, too.

Really easy class. There is no homework other than a weird, long paper you have to write. Otherwise the quizzes are really easy and the final isn't mandatory but you can take it to drop another test grade. It's a really easy A if you just show up and take basic notes which he gives most of them to you in a pamphlet.

Ickes will make you want to study psychology more and more. His classes are straight-forward and he makes the lectures interesting with videos and personal experiences. Tests/quizzes come straight from his notes - no games or tricks. Always looked forward to his class and he always seemed interested in his students. The book was hardly used.

The guy is bank. Lectures were always fun and interesting even at 8am! Fair exams and doesn't play games with you. Really wants to see you do well. Quick to get back with you. One of the best at AU. Thinking switching to psych. Take him for 101. You will learn a lot.

AU's best PSYC101 professor, in my opinion. Attempts to make things interesting for those who might not have an interest in the subject area. Quiz immediately followed by an exam for every 3 chapter section. Just get good at memorizing names of Psychologists and knowing which study they are associated with and you'll be fine. Don't waste $ on books

Loved this class. I actually enjoyed reading the book for it. He is a great prof. Interesting. Uses Youtube videos and funny stories from personal experience. I loved going to his class. I am taking him again in the fall! Recommended!!!

He made a class with a lot of information and a lot of work fun. I enjoyed doing my homework in this class. The advice he gives is very helpful. He is always there to help you out even if his schedule is crazy, which it is a lot of the time.
