Brekke is a great professor. He is tough and will grade you with no mercy, but you will learn so much if you pay attention and ask questions. He knows what he is talking about and his assignments and tests have always been relevant to what we learned in class. He doesn't take attendance, but you will not pass if you skip often

I know nothing about computers, so this class was tough but really fun. Went over things well in class. Online text book that was helpful to look at, but didn't read completely. Brekke scared me a bit at first, but by the end of the semester I really liked him, loved going to his office hours for help, and bonding over the vikings lol!

I took a introductory Linux class (CSIS 360) from him. Simply, he made me a linux geek out of this class. What I liked about him is that whenever he gives us reading materials, those materials somehow contains that causes curiosity to know about the subject even more. You will enjoy studying those and learn a lot besides what he teaches.

I did learn a lot from Brekke. If you plan on taking 252 or 352 - it's a good idea to start reading the book before his class. He has a clean approach, uses a class log, test materials are always discussed in class. If you're interested in programming - take his class. If you're looking to pass only - probably this class is not for you.

I liked that he let us out early a few times and we didn't have to use the book. The assignments were interesting, the tests seemed too hard for me in the begining. He was always willing to go over my tests with me, so I understood the material. He's the chair for the department so that was nice too.

Good teacher but I'm not sure that he is still in touch with what it's like to be clueless about programming. This is something that a teacher should never lose sight of, as it could create a barrier between them and the student.

He's a good teacher. Seems to have alot of pent-up anger though, and sometimes it seems like he's mad at you for some reason when he's lecturing. His voice gets louder and it feels like your a little kid getting a talking to. lol. But otherwise he's a good teacher. One of the easier programming teachers, and he's willing to help.

Dr. Brekke is a swell guy and excellent teacher. His classes are perfect, they balance difficulty and expectations so well you are not overworked (Walker) and are also not under educated (Chen). His only folly is he is the chair of the dept. and needs to exercise it. He could do so much for the students by forcing some standards. Walker v. Chen...

Great teacher, his coursework is generally mild and fun. Tests either go really well or really poorly and is all up to the student. I took a little off the easy side because my class got shorted on some time because he reviewed to heavily and then crushed us with the first and a serious use of the textbook the last 3 weeks of class.

A great teacher. The only problem I had was his tests. To much work for the time you have, but test is only 60% of your grade. Also gives chances for bonus which can be really easy.
