Comment:

Beware of taking MUS110 with Daniel Gordon. He is one of the nicest guys in the world, a truly amazing guy, but 60% of students got a C or worse in this basic gen ed class. Only 10% receive A's. Your grade almost entirely depends on how well you do on tests, which he makes very difficult. I managed to only do well from studying for many hours.

In this class all you do is listen to music he throws a ton of names at you and expects you to know them all and remember the different time periods. He always asks if anything was unexpected on the tests and the answer is always yes. His tests are hard and long. Class doesn't help because you just listen to different pieces. Do not take this class

Mr. Gordon is very meticulous. If you look at his scores, they are all color-coded; he means BUSINESS. He has a knack for choosing at least 1 piece a semester that really is special; it makes the music-making more worthwhile. He's goofy, and knows it, but I find his hilarity best when it is unintentional.

Mr. Gordon will hear you out and take suggestions seriously if it will benefit the ensemble. He can be very particular in the pursuit of the right sound. Sometimes, he seems to have TOO much fun in band, but he keeps it interesting. His stories are immensely entertaining and informative, and show his passion for all things music.

Dan is entertaining and tells A LOT of stories. But you're in a music class and if you want to learn a bit about the composer and not have to be tested on it, why not know a few fun facts? If you're struggling, he wont tell you the rhythms right off, but you're responsible for learning your own music. I enjoy most of the pieces we play

Dan Gordon is an interesting professor, to say the least. He is comical during band and makes me loose track of time. He is an amazing saxaphone player and really knows what he's talking about. Although the band is only alright, he makes it enjoyable for players of all levels.

I took this class expecting an easy A being that I was in concert Band and took Music Theory in HS. Not the case, all this is about basically is composers and their works and different music era's. Extremely boring, doesn't take attendance, 4 quizzes, drops 1. Difficult midterm, difficult final. Expensive text, a lot of tested material from thebook

Great teacher! Made me love classical music! Tests are really hard-but if you go to a lot of extra credit shows he gives u tons of extra credit points-thats how I passed! Most helpful teacher i've ever had and always willing to assist you.Makes time for students and is fun in class-pay CAREFUL attention in class or he'll call u out-higly recommend

He's a nice guy. He's really funny and really loves what he does, but if you want to mess around and whatnot he'll definitely call you out on it and tell you to stop. The music isn't all that easy to play so some practice is involved. He comes off as a little scary at first, but warms up after a few weeks :-)

I quit because of him. I dont' like his teaching. If you are in an ensemble he expects you to be able to play it right off, and if you are having a rough time with it, instead of helping you he just tells you to go practice. Sometimes you need more than that!

Dan is cool except that he picks way to many marches for band and lets the students treat him like crap. Students have no respect for him and that is so WRONG. If you take band be prepared to NEVER and I mean NEVER start on time!!!! And........ Play a lot of marches!

He's a good teacher and I enjoyed his lectures. If u have a slight interest in music take this class. He's funny & has a great sense of humor. The tests are pretty hard, but if u go to class and listen, u'll do fine, don'teven have to read the book (although it helps). If u don't wanna take another boring class i recommend it
