Dr. Hill said up front that if you can get through the first three weeks, you'll do fine. Those first three weeks, and the first test, are hellish. He talks a little too fast to take notes from, but he knows his stuff. He tries to make things fun, for instance readings from Mark Twain the _The Onion_. There for office hours and beyond.

I took Dr. Hill for the nebulously-named "sophomore seminar". It was a treatment of elegies, epics, and odes. The class was, at least for me, somewhat confusing and I wasn't sure what Dr. Hill wanted in his papers and such. Fortunately he was very accessible outside of class, even outside of his generous office hours.

Nice guy. I thought it was going to be a hard class with so many essays to write but I BS'd all of my essays and got high 80's b/c apparently he doesnt give above 90's. I didnt read any of the books..used sparknotes but used books for quotes in essays. Do the online discussions, attend the class, and talk in class and you will do fine!

Prof. Hill can be long winded at times but he does have an excellent understanding of Linguistics. Come to class and try to pay attention to the best of your ability but be warned: It gets boring! Being sure to do the online Angel quizzes and group projects will put you in good shape for the extremely challenging Final....

he's a nice guy who truly cares about his students doing well. paper rewrites are allowed and recommended. doesn't respond to e-mails, but is helpful during office hours. online discussions through ANGEL. easy if you do the work.

Very boring class. But if you are a decent writer and pretend to take interest in the material, it is an easy A to A-. I'm pretty sure no one in my class got below a C+. You also get opportunities to rewrite essays and there is no final or any tests for that matter.

He is a very helpful teacher. Do the work and online discussions and you will pass with flying colors. His tests are ok. He is not always very clear. It can be an easy class if you just do the work. He likes discussions, but his lectures will put you to sleep.

I had a medical excuse for this semester and missed almost all of our class meetings - Dr. Hill was extremely helpful and made sure I knew what was due when and gave me plenty of opportunities to do well despite my absences. I really enjoyed the material and his sense of humor - I recommend him!

David Hill is such a cute man. I heard many horror stories before taking this class with him and soon found them to be untrue. His little side comments are hilarious. The class material is rather boring, therefore I cannot imagine anyone making this class fun and I think Hill knows this. I would recommend a class with him for sure!

Davis Hill is a funny guy.. His coursespace methods are more comedy then anything. He's a very easy going and as long as you have knowledge of the stories you'll do fine. If you bug him enough and tell him to "save it" for next time you can get out of class early

I thought I would learn something in my senior seminar course, but obviously I was wrong. Although Hill is easy as a professor with his grading and requirements, he does not teach very well. I think he may have taught well before, but it may be time for retirement. Good for other classes, just avoid for eng465.

Very nice old man but impossible class. I studied for his class more than any other class and I still got 80s on the tests. He asks horrible questions in class and you can't take notes on any of the lectures. If you have the option of taking 100 with anybody else do it.

This class was interesting, it was challenging but yet if you worked hard it showed in the end. The material can be hard and heavy, although I strugged he helped me through and I did good in the course. A great guy and the final project fun to do!!!

Really nice guy. Boring class and hard grader, though. He kind of drones on. I would suggest bringing a book to class to pass the time. Online discussions are an absolute waste of time.
