I took Psych of Learning in the late 90's. I still use his lessons in everyday life. It made a difference in my college, grad school and professional career. Thanks Dr. Volkmann -J Casey '97

One of the best professors at WC. Dry sense of humor, phenomenally intelligent, and still personable. An excellent communicator who manages to make dry material engaging and applicable, given the students' self-motivation to take notes and participate in class. It will benefit you greatly to talk to him during his office hours.

Likes to talk. At times, his expectations and directions are unclear. He is more than willing to talk after class and during office hours. He likes to make you think and find answers for yourself rather than telling you the answer straight forward. Slow at handing back papers. Advice for those who are talking his class: Study and know everything!

Man, I love this guy. I disagree with him on a lot of stuff, but we had great discussions, and he really loves what he does. He gives great writing critiques, too. But you will have to write a lot, and TAKE IN CLASS NOTES!

Hard course to follow...there's no text book to go along with the syllabus, and he goes off on some crazy tangents. I liked DV as a person, but refused to take another class with him after experimental because I couldn't follow his loose structure.

Crams in a ton of info for Jan, often boring at the same time, the 3 hrs go slowly, he wants everyone in the class to take it credit/no credit, which makes passing much easier

Dr. V. is by far one of the best professors I have ever learned from. He is very knowledge and more than willing to help those who care to learn. His test are difficult, but definately not impossible. His grading scale is ridiculously easy.

The most rewarding (learning wise) teacher at whittier. Definately the hardest course schedule and material cramed in. Don't take unless ready to work. Dry humor makes the material paletable, although his lecture is not always clear. Forgiving and easy to approach if effort is there.

the worst teacher at whittier, somehow makes psych seem absolutely boring, goes off on tangents of personal accounts having nothing to do with psych (boring as hell, the ennui is unbearable). no charisma, seems he's already half in the grave, despite his

My favorite teacher at Whittier College. VERY entertaining, knowledgeable and great sense of humor. His tests are pretty tough, but he's a very fair grader (a 50% is a C). Be sure to get old copies of his tests. He never changes them.
