Dr. Deb is a great person and professor and you can tell she loves what she does. I really enjoyed her as a professor but the class was very difficult for me. I would recommend her but not the philosophy class if you get easily confused. It seemed like I could not understand the material no matter what I did. I was always confused but I liked her.

LOVE Dr. Deb! One of the best professors that I have ever had. Always in a good mood and willing to meet outside of class to help. Always encouraged us to go to office hours and would give us encouraging words in class. Class was easy if you paid attention and did the homework. Exams and homework was exactly what we did in class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Comment:
For Philosophy being such a hard subject, Dr. Deb is a great professor to have for it. It's generally a hard class and you have to work hard to pass, but it is not impossible to do. There's 2 textbooks that you read A LOT every week, no homework, and only 3 exams. No extra credit. If you do your part, you'll pass. Overall great professor to have.

Dr. Deb is one of the only professors that I feel isnt bothered by students visiting her in office hours. I would highly suggest going to her office hours for further explanation. The class had a lot of material so reading the chapters really helps. She is super nice! As quoted by another professor in the Phil. dep. "Dr. Deb is a bada$$!"

This class was difficult. Professor Smith is really knowledgeable about the material, but she may be able to give more time to covering semantic metaproofs. I learned a lot from this course and enjoyed the input from senior level mathematics and computer science majors. As a philosopher, this course challenged me but was worth every minute. Take it

Dr. Deb is a really awesome teacher. We spent 10 weeks on early and late Wittgenstein (Tractatus and Philosophical Investigations) and then extensions of his influence through metaethics (R.M. Hare) and epistemology. I really enjoyed the first 2/3 of the course, but Dr. Deb does a great job of giving you amazing feedback on writing.

Dr. Smith leads students through the highlights of contemporary analytic epistemology in her course. She is a wonderful lecturer who successfully conveys every topic. Although a brutal grader, Dr. Smith's feedback on your papers will discipline your reasoning, argumentation, and writing style. You are doing yourself a disservice by not taking her.

Great intro class for philosphy. Learn a lot of how to read through philisophical texts and actually make arguments for and agianst the argument.

She is a great professor. Her British Empiricism class provides a great introduction to academic philosophical writing. While the philosophers (specifically Locke) covered in this class are boring, she makes sure we understand the significance of their contributions to philosophy. Definitely take her if you want to learn how to write papers.

BEWARE! THIS IS NOT A CLASS FOR MATH-PHOBIC ENGLISH MAJS LIKE ME!!! That said, Deb made this gibberish make sense for me - and that's saying a lot. She clearly loves what she does - a huge plus. She was a great prof - will miss her after I graduate. (to the dummy re: shaving - who cares?!?)

I'll be the lone dissenter. The best reason to take Deb is experience with writing scholarly material. I find her pretentious and self-absorbed and an emotional grader, which is scary. Lectures are great, grading is totally whacked.

By far the best and most helpful prof at Kent! She'll expect you to act like an adult and actually do work, which is very commendable. She is fair and friendly, and a great advisor as well. If you actually want and like to learn, and don't like blow-offs, take Deb!!!!!
