Comment:

I don't know why people rated her so poorly. She's a great professor with good feedback and as long as you finish your projects and show you're putting in effort, it's not hard at all. It requires extra time to finish projects, but that's how art is. If you don't have the extra time, don't take the class.

There is a LOT of work assigned within this course, & the hardest part of the course would be keeping up with the amount of assignments. Attend class in order to finish drawing work! Drexler is a good professor with lots of knowledge even though her specialty is painting. I suggest to putting in extra time to get your assignments done!

Comment:

She expects you to absolutely love art. If you're on the fence or simply want a grade, you will be miserable. The workload is also fairly intense. She's also very much in love with unusual compositions and abstraction, so she'll tend to push you towards that. Be sure to do everything you can with every work you produce, she's a tough critic.

Debra probably gets bad reviews because her class is hard. Don't let that stop you from taking her. She teaches a thorough, comprehensive curriculum with a focus on perspective and composition. She will take you to another level as an artist. Classes will be long and challenging, and non-stop drawing, drawing, drawing. Very thorough critiques.

I really have no idea where some of the bull in these reviews is coming from. Debra was totally approachable, perfectly well organized, and flexible without being a pushover. She's a great artist and a good, communicative teacher who can really help you out alot if you're willing to learn. I'd definitely take another class if I had the opportunity.

She is a VERY UNAPPROACHABLE PERSON. Not inspirational, not only does it reflect in her teaching, but it also shows in her face- she always has a tired expression or looks as though she needs a drink.

Good teacher who will give constructive criticism on technical aspects of your work. Also good for helping students develop conceptual ideas for their work. Strict and expects a lot from students, be prepared. Sometimes I disagreed with her, but I'm taking another class by her because she challenges me as an artist to become better, which I need.

Only take this class if you like to draw! TAs do most of the work but. Its also important to attend class because they go over each project, explaining it and demonstrating it, and do in class activities. Basically if you like drawing then ur fine, if u dont, DONT take this class all you do is draw. Oh yah fyi ur gonna have to buy extra supplies

The TA's are pretty helpful & funny. Her lectures are pretty boring but the projects are fun. To get an A on your projects & drawings u have to be pretty creative. Make sure u attend class b/c they demonstrate each project & it makes it A LOT easier. Her quizzes are pretty easy too, just make sure u listen & take notes when shes giving a lecture.

easy A mainly because of her TA's who are really nice, helpful, and lenient graders. Drexler however, tries to be funny but her lectures are really boring & you have to go for the in-class sketches. for some reason she's really adamant about you leaving no earlier than the class is supposed to finish.

Don't buy the textbook! You don't need it. This is one of the most uninteresting art classes I have ever took. Plus the grading system is compleatly retarded. Don't take art from this professor...only if you really have to (then I feel very sorry for you).
