Don't be fooled by most of these super old reviews. Professor Lee is a great guy and truly makes material interesting and understandable. His exams are open note and he is a fair grader. He also makes the projects relevant and interesting. Recommend!!!!!

Lee was my worst professor in 4 semesters. His exams are directed at how well you understand his questions rather than the material (TONS of trick questions). Final was 2 hours of writing SQL by hand, no computers (avg was 69%, no curve.) Did not teach HTML, CSS, or PHP like he was supposed to, so I will have to learn all of that on my own.

This is an annoying class, but your grade won't be as bad as you think. On projects and tests, its normal to get a 60%. You just have to get used to being a little lost and make sure to stay ahead of the average(use your book to study). I had no prior knowledge, studied only before tests and got a B.

He is horrible at explaining, exams are impossible, and the final project takes forever, and the only reason I got a b- in the class is because of his messed up curving scale, oh which also doesnt allow you to ever calculate ur grade because its based off everyone else, but he wont tell you how you're doing

This guy is insane. He is never there when you need him, but brags how he was in his office for six + hours and no one visits- there's a reason for that, he doesn't know what he's grading! Worst TA I've ever had. If he manages to obtain his Master's degree I will laugh.

Well I guess after looking at some of his comments on ratemyprofessor Dongwon might have gotten better. I took him on fall 05 and I thought he was a pretty decent prof. I found his very helpful during his office hours. 80% is an A- in the class which helps a lot, however the exams can be little tricky. If you have some understanding in php u get A.

he is not that bad as posted. Really helpful if you got problems and look for him. Class is hurry on the first half to get students knowledge needed in projects. If your project team is not motivated, you are going to loss. It would sure help if you have some very basic ideas on programming.

This is the worst IST class I've ever taken. The professor moves way too fast and doesnt help at all. His grading scale is rediculous and his lectures are pointless. Often times I found myself sitting through class learning nothing and going home to teach myself all over again. Dongwon should retire. He is terrible.

This class can be confusing. It's a weaning out course for IST students. So long as you can roughly understand programming and are good in mathematics, you should be alright. He goes pretty fast but slows down when people ask questions. He's very helpful if you visit him during his office hours.

impossible class, yes. but, he curves at the end so when i had a 73 on the first exam, then 91, and something horribly low on the final (didn't get grade back but i suspect a 60 or less), i still got a B+.
