Teacher refuses to give answers for homework, but also refuses to go over concepts in class because we should already know this stuff. He refused to accept a quiz for a bunch of people in class because the Lab computers didnt print and that wasnt the professors fault and the students responsibility to assure the UWM computers worked.

Comment:

Even if you are a student who likes a challenge, I recommend a different challenge. I would say avoid at almost all costs. I owe him good language for how accomodating he was to my class, but he said that it was uncharacteristic of him to be as flexible as he was, which wasn't much.

He is obsessed with the word "true" (he prounces it "atrue"). Makes students feel stupid for asking questions, doesn't teach; overall worst teacher I've ever had.

Simply put, avoid taking this professor. If he didn't have tenure there would be NO WAY he would still be a professor based on his teaching ability. He is also very hostile and makes fun of students who ask questions that aren't "acceptable" to him (he teaches a business class and expects everyone to be stats grad students) FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER!

Doesn't use textbooks, doesn't post PowerPoint slides before class, provides what broad topic will be discussed in syllabus, but expects students to seek information about the topic online. He also teaches as if we have the same degree of knowledge in the subject matter as himself, and doesn't clearly answer questions.

Lack of professionalism, clarity, and disorganized. Unstructured teaching style, also the notes and other material; bad flow and continuity of the topics. It is hard to follow the instructor due to lack of engagement and discussion in the class. You need an educator that will explain, help, and build interest in the subject.

comes off VERY demeaning if you ask a question. if you ask a question during class, prepare to be picked on throughout the class. admits that staticians are tricky but does not teach to counter the 'tricks', at least not clearly. his quizzes are his exams. show full work on calculation but final is wrong means zero points.

In truth, Dr. Soofi can be very difficult to understand. BUT - he really wants to help students learn the material. The key to success is to do the homework - ALL of the homework. Doing so will help you with every other grad stats class, guaranteed.
