Kurys class is a weird professor. Attendance is only taken when he remembers. Learning really only comes from reading the text not really from him. You read some chapters and discuss it the next meeting and then write a journal on it. Super easy, not really fun but he is funny.

Kurry is THE BEST!! His classes are laid back but you also get mind blown each class by the readings. Its best to do the readings to have something to share during class because you will most probably get in a circle and having things to say will get you an easy A. Not doing the readings will make it harder to pass. He is one of personal favorites

This was a very interesting class. The readings are very dense and they are very long, but he will help you deconstruct the readings during class discussions. The midterms are kind of hard, you definitely have to know the reading. The major paper at the end will definitely help boost your grade up, so you definitely want to do a great job on it.

Professor Kury is a decent professor. I only took the class to fulfill my GE requirements so I had little to no knowledge about health care in the Latino community. Even so, the class can see how passionate he is about the topic. Tons of readings, some weeks are more interesting than others. If you're willing to learn, he truly appreciates that.

Professor Kury makes it very clear at the beginning of the semester that you will be in for a lot of reading. Each week a reaction paper is due, where you summarize the readings. He does not lecture much, it is more of a class discussion. There is a final paper 5-7 pages. Even though there was a lot of reading the class is manageable.

Be prepared to read, he makes you read ALOT! but other than that he brings it in for a class discussion at the end and kinda makes it so the students learn off one another. But seriously if you don't like reading don't take this class

If you are Latina/o this class is mandatory. Kury implores you to complete your mental/ social development for the good of the community you already represent. It's not the easiest class, but it's not difficult either. 3 - 5 page papers & some smaller response assignments. Interesting readings and great discussions. Show up HOT!

Really interesting class, you learn about health care and how different countries deal with it. The class is not too demanding, only one in class exam (short answer), and about 2 papers and a final paper (all take-home papers). But you do need to do your 20 hours of volunteer work, so get those hours in ASAP!

Heavy reading, & a lot of class discussion. The class impacted my view of the world. Get to know Kury, & you'll be golden. He's passionate about the subjects covered & wants to hear everyone's opinion. He will call you out, but he's a nice guy. Involves community outreach & service. No formal tests, just short take home papers.

The class is super easy. one midterm and 3 papers. The last paper is a 4 pages about one of the books and 1 page of the class summary. He picks on everyone if you did the readings. the readings are very long and tedious. but if you go to every class you will pass.

I felt like the readings were long. YOU HAVE TO DO 20 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE SO GOOD LUCK IF YOU DONT KNOW SPANISH. Kury was super nice but I dont like his TA, she was not helpful at all and just gave mean looks if I said I didnt understand something. Take if you know spanish, if not you will have to work at a garage sale.

Kury would see me go the opposite direction from class and ask where I'm going and laugh. If you honest with him, he'll help you. I didn't read much but the readings were good. Every class we get in a circle and talk about the readings our opinions and all that good stuff. In class essay, papers and some extra credit, one group prep.

I love Kury. I was skeptical about him at first. No lecture? No homework? Take home finals? How do you expect us to learn? BUUUUT You do absorb the material. His classes have changed my life. (Corny, i know) He is a sweet heart. I will take all his courses.

omg...people swear their misery that the readings are long & intolerable. I did not read every single page but read enough of each HW assignment to be able to be part of a discussion. All he wants is for people to join the discussions & give their input. That's all he appreciates. He is extremely empathetic & passionate.

In the beginning of the semester, I didn't like this class. But in the end, I'm very glad I took this class. The reading material is long, but it's interesting. Talk occassionally in class because he is especially nice to the students who speak up. Only 1 exam (midterm) and 3 take-home essays
