Comment:

Lots too read, as usual with a POLS class. Great guy though I had trouble understanding what exactly he wanted in our paper assignments. Final was a breeze though. Go to class. If you want to pass its a must but the material is very interesting.

Comment:

This was the hardest class I have ever taken, but it had the sweetest pay out. If you want to learn how to understand material instead of simply spitting it back, take a class with him. I may not agree with him from a political standpoint, but he knows his stuff. He's not there to fail you. If you put forth effort, he'll reward you.

The man absolutely hated me, but he was the best damn professor I've ever had. His teaching technique engrains it into your memory so it sticks. However, he is one of the most demanding professors I've ever heard of as well. If you care want to learn instead of be taught, take a class from him.

He is without a doubt one of the best professors!!! He knows what he's talking about and is extremely knowledgeable. He requires a lot out of you but it is beyond worth it. It would be a great pleasure and honor to have him as a professor again!

This class sucked. i felt as if i was sitting in church instead of class. then he requires you to speak up in class and if you disagree he makes you feel like an idiot. it was horrible and he never shuts up! HATED IT!

One of the best instructors I have had in my 28 years of college. He is one of the wisest and most humble professor who loves a good argument if you dare. Does not pandor to students but demands their best. I retain much of what he taught me 28 years later.

His class was different from most pols classes I had at niu. I sort of has trouble understanding the readings since we read things from Tocqueville, the bible and Shakespeare. If you really don't like participating in class, don't take this class because the majority of your grade is based on participation. He's really has an old fashioned mindset

Glenn is amazing. He teaches socratically but you definitely learn in his class and he knows his stuff. Be prepared to answer questions and you'll be fine. One of the best professors I've had.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had...No structured notes, very opinionated, and impossible to comprehend. He was very unhelpful with questions (I was failing and he refused to answer any questions I had over the material)...Finals were hell, and the readings were long and difficult. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES. He made me cry.

Rocks. Only thing approaching a liberal education you can find at NIU. Work hard and you'll walk away with something you'll treasure for the rest of your life. Prof. Glenn has clear views on things but appreciates dissent backed up with reasonable arguments. Show up prepared or don't bother taking the class.

Great class, absolutely amazing prof. He really cares that you learn the material, and the tests are kinda daunting, but keep in mind he's fair. Most classes are interesting, except when people decide their opinion is more important than Tocqueville's. Some people will clash with Glenn (and they are the ones who think he's trying to corrupt us).

Hands down the best professor at NIU. Challenges students to not only prepare for class, but demonstrate understanding of material through discussion based classes. Encourages students to develop their minds, and not just memorize facts. If you have the chance, take a course with him, it'll be the best learning experience you will have in college.

Outstanding instructor, with comprehensive knowledge of political theory in general and classical liberalism in particular. Found his lectures to be fascinating. He's challenging, demanding and will make your life difficult if you don't keep up with the reading. Satisfy his requirements, and you will learn much.

Dr. Glenn challenged me for the first time in my academic career. He made me think and prepare unlike any other Prof. in my undergrad and graduate career. Intrinsic learning was my motivation for the first time in my life. I'm a teacher today because I hope to challenge students like Glenn challenged me.
