He doesn't take attendance, but if you don't attend you wont PASS! He lectures the entire time (speaking only, no power-points, no notes). I recommend you write every word which comes out of his mouth. Because if you don't use the examples he provides your grade will suffer. Grading criteria is not clear at all.

One of the best professors at UST. Very lecture heavy but if you attend and take decent notes you will do fine. 2 test are all take-home and are time consuming but very easy if you reference notes and textbook. Regular reading of textbook is unnecessary. One big research paper but not difficult if you put in the time.

Very easy teacher if you just show up. Tests are take home papers and he is willing to help you work on them if you go to his office hours. Very nice and very sociable. The lectures just get long and boring if you aren't interested in the subject.

in class lectures write down everything cuz you can use it for the take home essays. You don't have to read the textbook, just look at it when writing the 3 take home essays (not hard). A essay final AND a 10-12 page research essay. you have to take notes at the history museum, Just start the research paper right away!! and you will be golden!

This class is all lectures, every class is him talking the whole time and he tends to get off topic. All the "tests" are take home papers that are graded very tough, although all answers can be found in the text books. 1/3 of the grade is a research paper that takes up a ton of time. He gives little guidance on how he wants it. Grades it tough.

Great professor. Wants to see you do well. Entire course is graded on 3 essays, research paper, & final. Some instructions are ambiguous but he is more than helpful with answering questions during office hours. Lectures can get long (1.5 hour class) but he's a funny guy. Would

He is brilliant and really knows his stuff. Some lectures can be dry. Exams are written at home, you can find all of the answers in the textbook. One big paper that is kind of a pain due to his specifics on research. Can grade harshly. He really only cares about the facts so if you cram as many facts as you can into your papers you will be fine.

Great Guy but expectations for tests and papers aren't made very clear, hard to understand what earns a good grade, many people in my class struggled with same thing

I love Woytz! I think he's funny and he makes it clear that if you need help on papers or anything he's there to help point you in the right direction. 4 "exams" (more like short papers). He's a pretty easy grader. Pay attention in lectures, take notes, and read or skim over the suggested chapters and you'll get an A

Lecture only, with a few videos. Writes some stuff on the board but it's mainly what you choose to write down. Tests are take home essays. Two part final, one part being take home essay. 12 page research paper, must go to History Center for. Willing to help if you go to office hours. Book wasn't necessary but sometime helpful for doing essay tests.

If you're looking for an easy history class this is not for you. He gives great lectures and the class is very interesting. But he writes very little on the board so all your notes are whatever you decide to write down. All exams are take home format with a minimum of 8 pages per. He also has a 12 page research paper in it as well.

The class is lecture only and that's all it is. Dr. Woytanowitz does not use any presentation tools, and the lectures get long. Nothing special about his course, save for the 14 page research paper that requires you to go to the MN History Center and look up old newspapers.

This professor is a comedian. He means well and will answer what ever questions you bring to him. You only need your text book for his take home tests which need to be 8 pages but they are take home so what more can you ask for. I would highly recommend this class.

Easy prof, take home tests. Big research paper which is a pain but he is a pretty easy grader. Show up for class and pay attention and if you can write at all you'll get an A. Don't take at 8AM!

Prof W: very funny guy, explains things in a great way using anecdotes, quotes, and side notes to make the material interesting and relevant. Course: I would not recommend taking at 8 am as attendance and good notes are key to doing well. The whole class is a lecture. 3 take home tests and a huge research paper are all manageable with good notes.

If you go to class and take notes you get all the answers for the take home tests, 3 of them. The take home tests are pretty easy: 4 questions that are 2 pages double spaced each. One research paper. It was an interesting class. Wasn't my "most favorite ever" but he has good humor that spices up the subject and cool facts/tidbits about Minnesota

He was a great teacher. He is funny and willing to help if you ask. You have 3 take home exams during the semester. These exams are NOT hard at all if you actually try and use your book. I would recommend this class. Even though he lectures the whole class, his lectures are interesting and helpful for the take home tests.

Amazing profesor....clearly states all points in class. A lot of notes...very little class participation. Tests are take-home exams that consist of roughly 8 pages of essays. They are simple if you take notes...he is a tough grader so the better the notes the better the grade. You have one MASSIVE research project for the whole semester.
