If you show up on speech days to fill out her peer reviews, you can really give your speeches whenever. She is laid back and works with schedules constantly. Very few speeches, and a small amount of other activities you are graded on. I went in thinking speech would be the worst class but she made it my favorite of the semester. HIGHLY recommend!

I took Mrs. Long during fall of 2016 for Fundamentals of Public Speaking. She grades fairly and provides helpful feedback. Make plenty of eye contact, be confident, and try not to fidget while speaking. If you volunteer to be one of the first to present, you'll probably score a few more points. She also values unique topics. She is a good one!

I took Mrs. Long for a summer speech class and I absolutely LOVED her. She's tough when it comes to grading papers or outlines; grammar is very important to her. She talks a lot and is very interesting. I would definitely take her again!

Mrs. Long is a wonderful teacher! I had her for ENG102 and Literature 1 and 2. In her English classes she picks interesting topics for her students to write about and allows class to watch movies based on the current book being studied. In Lit, she tells every story during class, so NO READING REQUIRED!!! Her tests are kinda hard so study!

I had her 12 years ago in 1995. One of the best profs I ever had and I attended some major colleges after leaving Shoals. The foundation I acquired in writing at Shoals under the tutelage of Ms. Long and Ms. Blackman has helped me in my academic and professional career.

I am a sophomore here at NWSCC, and Mrs. Long is by far my favorite professor. She makes Lit. the class you look forward to. Her lectures are to the point and fun! I highly recomend students take Mrs. Long!

Mrs. Long is absolutely hilarious! She's a bit absent-minded at times and habitually late, but her lectures are great, short, and to the point. She is THE instructor to have for English at NW-SCC.
