Comment:

Although she can come off as blunt and rude towards students when they don't understand obvious concepts, it's almost the student's fault. She is very straightforward and it's not hard to succeed in her class as long as you do the homework every day (which isn't even that long) and stay awake in class.

nice teacher and easy grader. often makes involuntary, funny faces at students. pretty clear and is good with taking comments/feedback and using it to make the class better. if learn your characters and usually do the homework, you'll definitely get an A.

Absolutely loved her. Plenty of extra credit on her quizzes which are easy if you memorize the dialogues in the back of the book (Takes sentences directly from them). She'll favor you if you memorize those dialogues to recite in class. Teachings the concepts and sentence structures really well. About 30 minutes of homework per class. Recommended!

her course material is pretty straightforward and easy. but yeah, she doesn't like people seeking extra help. totally not welcome people who asks questions. she often exaggertaes her frown at certain people to show that she doesn't like them. it's kind of funny to watch that, but it's really mean.

'unhelpful' is probably an accurate description. she knows her material, but is absolutely apathetic towards students. so not-colgate-material professor! she is also subtly mean sometimes. but the class in general is not too difficult.

teaches in a structured curriculum so course is easy as long as you do your work. learn a lot. Every professor can have favorites but she does it quite blatantly and it can be frustrating. It's not even because u don't do your work- even if you get a good grade, she can make it obvious that she doesn't like u. but again- u can still get good grade.

Does a great job of explaining the ins and outs of Chinese. If you work hard the first three or four weeks and build a solid foundation, the rest of the semester will be smooth sailings. As with any foreign language, the more exposure the better. Show up to class everyday, pay attention, and half your work is done for you.

She's amazing. Will have you talking on the phone in Chinese in less than a month and a half!!! You definately learn a lot, and the tests aren't difficult. If you really want to learn to speak and write chinese, this is the professor to go to!
