his classes are strong antidotes to student apathy. He breathes new life into old texts by discussing stimulating ideas/theories in class; he manages to make literary topics relevant to your personal life as well as current social/political environments. Best professor I have ever had - really cares for your intellectual development. Brilliant man.

Comment:

Took Slavery and Capitalism with Bigelow. One of my favorite classes. He made the effort to make you feel proud of your writing. I learned a lot and read a lot of very interesting readings. Daily writing assignments. Would definitely recommend his class to others.

Great guy, very fun to get to know. Wrote excellent on my writings in his class but never gave me higher than a B+. I will never understand how excellent equals B+. Especially in a required class that few people are happy to be in.

Very enthusiastic and passionate about economics. I had fun talking with him during office hours, and it's clear that he loves for people to come in during them. Interesting class discussions too. His class also helped me learn about how society and culture truly works from an economic perspective. Expect to edit your papers a lot. Must take!

His class was my favorite. He wants to help you improve your writing no matter what level you are at. He loves it when ppl visit office hours. His hand writing sucks, but he knows it and will clarify an comments he writes on your papers. Talk in class, but dont feel like you have to take detailed notes. All the grades are papers, No tests.

Professor Bigelow is pretty awesome, and so is the class- Victorian Poetry and Prose. He is one of the nicest guys ever. Totally mild mannered, thoroughly knowledgeable on the subject, and just fun to be around. The grade is mostly just based on 3 or 4 papers and then participation. Nothing you can't handle. He makes sure everyone is involved.

Wasn't able to finish the class due to certain issues, but one of the better teachers I've had at Rhodes. Very open to discussion and accepts all points of view. He never tells you that you are wrong...he incoroporates what you have to say into his lesson. very good teacher!!
