Comment:
He definitely has an unusual approach to his classes. Personally, I like it when you see the use of a subject that you are going through and this professor demonstrates how the things work in reality (and not as a concept!). He's a great person, he's always here to help. Easy to get a high mark, but he doesn't help with the preparation for final.

He has an obsession with creative formats. Whether it's the business report or the group project presentation as long as you're creative you'll be fine. No midterm which is good but the final has a lot of content and he doesn't prepare you for it so either you read the book or you procrastinate and read the chap summaries, pp,sos booklet ad ur good

Get ready for a challenge! This class isn't necessarily tough, but the amount of work is almost absurd. In order to enjoy this class, you need not only to care about Service Marketing, but you also need to agree with his vision for the future of the industry and all of business in general. Oral presentations and semester-long group work! Have fun!

Comment:
Professor Colas has unreasonably high expectations that every presentation in his class to be a big show. The WAY you present is more important than the content of your presentation in his eyes. If you make a single mistake or something of that nature he deducts major points, while the assignments he gives you are always covered in the same stuff.

Had him for Mark/Ibus 462 and would not take him again. His lectures are just a bunch of examples he provides. Had to submit chapter and research summaries for each class, prepare for 2 oral presentations, and a 20 page final paper. His grading is very subjective, guidelines and explanations are not clear. This course was self-taught.

Loved him. The class was completely unlike any other that I've ever taken. Even if it was hard to keep up with his "homework", it was a fantastic experience and cured me from any stage fright. He's so energetic and caring, we sensed that he really loved the topic and our class & we loved him too. Follow any suggestions he gives you, be creative!

If there's one thing to take out of Business Communication, it's to 'know your audience'. Without knowing, Prof. Colas has taught me exactly this. If your project and term paper are written keeping in mind that he's the one grading, you'll do fine. Don't be afraid to go over the top if need-be. Overall, he's not that bad - just play it smart.

PRO: he knows how to entertain and easy marker. CONS: he NEVER explains anything and his grading is highly subjective. (i.e: he likes your topic for the presentation, you will get a good grade). He never once deeply went into the content of the book even though you must know it by heart for the final. I wouldn't take him back.

Love the guy! Comm212 is a dry class. People here are complaining he doesn't teach. Of course he doesn't teach but at least he makes class fun. He wants you to learn in your experiences, not by a book. I have never laughed so much in a uni class before, and everyone around me felt the same way. Take this guy, you won't regret it!

Terrible prof. He never used the book, showed slides or anything throughout the whole semester. He just talked about himself and his past experiences. The class is about communicating professionally and he expects you to be like actor in the way you present or talk to him. Take this class if u want a theatre class

if you really want to learn anything in the class, do not choose his class. I think it is a good idea that find one's work experience before you choose a business course's professor (make a comparison between each professor). It is really important.

talks about absolutely irrelevant things, chooses 1 slide and talks about random things for the entire duration of the lecture, never actually gets to the point. Be prepared to study from the book or go to another lecture, do not take under any circumstance. Additionally, has unrealistic expectations about group projects, no clear grading criteria

Very nice man and easy marker for the oral presentations. You will lose all your marks on the final paper; TAs are brutal markers (ex: 20% off for more than 2 spelling mistakes). Loved his class very much but did not get good mark. For sure easier profs out there.

Terrible teacher who talks about absolutely irrelevant things and is the toughest grader. Has extremely high expectations for you but does not teach you how to fulfill these expectations, you just have to be a genius.

No respect for a student's time. Will talk for hours without covering anything relevant and without telling you what he expect in assignments. Teaches absolutely nothing in class, but forces you to be there or you get penalized. Be prepared to teach the entire class to yourself and to write notes because he marks those... seriously.

Awesome prof! He doesnt teach much material during class time, but no teacher for this course does. He is very committed and engaged in the topic, but expects alot from students in return. His TAs are harsh but provide alot of feedback to justify your grade. I always looked forward going to class because he is an entertainer rather than just a prof
