Doc B is a great teacher. He really expects a lot our of his students, which I personally think is great. He scolds those who don't show improvement, be let's all be honest, this is college, you ought to be doing your damnedest. He DOES love jazz, so try to relate, otherwise, he's a really smart guy...

He's the best teacher I've ever had. He's a great sax/clarinet player, and I learned a lot from him. He's extremely nice and a little forgetful here and there. He does expect you to practice but which music teacher doesn't. He's a lot of fun to have for lessons. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Dr. Balfany is an incredible musician and player, but is by far the worst professor in the music department. He is unfair in grading and gives special treatment to jazz players. As an educator I have nothing good to say about him.

dr. balfany is incredibly nice, but can be demanding. he's not really intimidating, but for some reason i get nervous about lessons. he expects a lot of practicing...about 2 hrs. a day is what he told me. incredible clarinet/sax teacher though.
