Comment:

Amazing passionate teacher who does a great job asking students the right questions to make them think about topics the right way. If you don't have college algebra and at least intro to chemistry completed before core bio then it is your own fault.

DO not take her. She acts as if the notes from class are straight on the test, but they're not. if you have a great background in chemistry, you'll excel. you can study the book and your class notes but even then C's are common. office hrs are pointless, hardly re-explains anything, has no patience. she may know her stuff but hates to teach.

She is outdated. She honestly beleives that 60% is a legite average. Which is a lot of BS. Her lectures are an outline of everything you need to know on the test. You have to take notes and then go back and read the textbook over and over. So dont think you can take her and get an A using your notes. Lab exam are okay but usually average to C%

This teacher was by far the worse I have ever experienced. She has no idea what she is doing. I asked for help and she acted like I was stupid. She is rude and inconsiderate. I ended up with a B- and thats ONLY because I had to pay for a tutor to help me pass. DO NOT TAKE HER!

Comment:

Very good teacher, tests come directly from notes and lectures. I have used the book very little and usually check it out from the library. Gives a review day before tests and asks if there are questions. Lab is fun and unstressful! Does not give pop quizzes and very little homework. Assigns extra credit. An awesome teacher!

This class was very hard. The only good thing about this class was her grading system. She grades on a point system. Her tests are very tricky, you got to know the book and your notes upside down. The lab exams, and extra credits are hard. Point blank, everything about this class was hard. Good luck to thoses who are considering to take her.

If you want to donate money to the College and fail a class at the same time, take Dr. Brooks. Tests are extremely hard! The class average is 60%, that should tell you something. Unlike Kevin Garnett, not everything is possible. Unless you plan on getting a PhD in Biology, dont take her.

She is a very nice teacher. Although in the beginning it seems like the hardest class, she helps you and is very friendly. You do have to work hard in this class, but she offers a lot of homework and extra credit to help you boost up your grade. As long as you attend class and pay attention, there's no reason why you shouldnt pass.

This professor is incredible. If you are enthusiastic about biology or a bio major you should take her class. You do have to work hard (This is given if you are a science major) but it is well worth it if you really enjoy learning and want to understand bio. Prepares you for BSC2011 very well. Has review sheets before every test and xtra credit

Gretchen is an awesome professor. I would take her for Core 2 if she taught it. You have to be willing to work REALLY hard to get an A. I made an A and I had to study almost every day. You learn a lot and become prepared for the next Bio. She's awesome!

She's a nice lady who means well, but she expects her students to put forth a LOT of effort! There may be better teachers out there for the subject, her tests are very very detail-oriented so you have to know your stuff, backwards and forewards if you want an A. If you're willing to work hard though you will learn a lot.

Wonderful teacher. I would take her for Core 2 if she was teaching it. Have to attend class if you want to pass. The test questions come right out of the lecture. You have to put in the time and effort if you want an A, but she is great.

The only class I have had to withdraw (W) from at SFCC. Do not take this teacher unless you have had biology recently. She is not willing to help AT ALL. Worst teacher I have had here. Her notes are unorganized, and lab drags out forever. May be helpful to take if you plan to go to UF as a science major because classes there may be like her's:HARD!

by holding her 20 years old notes she thinks she can fulfil her poor little ego by tortuning students, makes stupid jokes about her stupid plants, not helpful in class, makes fun of you when you ask questions, if you want to fail, take her is your best choice, a nightmare she is to the the biological field, mean old witch

I liked her, however she is not for sissies that is for sure. If you are not interested in the class I would take someone else. Sherylee Thompson seems like the kind of teacher to take if you just want to learn what you need to pass

Save yourself some time and money, do not take this woman! Test material is never covered in the class, and u need a TON of time to study for her test. Which I can tell you right now, u will not pass. Class avg in my class was in the 60's. She could careless if u fail or pass. Horrible attitude!
