Comment:
Dr. King was one of the most instrumental and brilliant professors I have ever had. His knowledge was profound. With a fantastic, sarcastic wit, there was rarely a dull lecture. His character and passion for his disciplines inspired me to pick up a 3rd minor in antropology from The University of Houston, after I transferred from North Texas.

Professor King had a great sense of humor and the best stories. Physical Anthropology is a hard class, so DO NOT underestimate it. One thing I didn't like was that the lectures and exams did not match. There is material in the exams that seems to come out of left field, so MAKE SURE YOU STUDY. The lab assistant Terry was fantastic also!!

You can make an easy A in the class if you do the work but the professor is a self focused egotistical old relic. Brazenly sexist and very disrespectful to minority groups (calling Native peoples Indians joking about how asian women are "naturally good with ben wa balls"). This gauche troglodyte is lucky he has tenure.

The tests were pretty difficult, exams were curved, class ended up getting curved, by a lot. If you're interested in this field, he is a MUST. Suck it up, go to lecture, study your A off. Ask if you can record his lectures, they'll save you. Go look at your exams, you might catch something ;-).

I did not head the advice of prior students reviews. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You spend 3 hours in lecture learning about King's life and stories, 2 hours in lab learning completely different matierial, and then hours more studying through texbook (which we are never on track with and the readings). Please, please do not take this class. GPA Killer!

I loved this course. It is one of the most interesting classes I've taken, however you do have to earn your grade. There will be a lot of studying involved. Don't panic if you don't do well in the beginning because he is fair in regards to curves and whatnot. I made an A overall after making one B and 3 C's on his tests before curving.

The guy is wicked up to date and a genius in his field, but as he teacher he is complex at best. The grade is 4 tests (lab grade substitutes lowest test grade) , which come almost exclusively from the book and the readings. The class is more of a guide for YOU to keep in touch with the readings than for him to actually teach you. Definitely Hard!

Dr. Gil King is an amazing man and the knowledge he has to share is awe inspiring. But if you're just taking this class for your science credit you'll probably fail. Get out now...

I did struggle a little with the tests, but I didn't put a lot of effort into it. It's definitely not the easiest class I've taken and studying is pretty necessary. On the other hand, I loved his lectures and really enjoyed being in class. He was funny and did his job. He might not be the most helpful professor, but he did want everyone to learn.

Dr. King is such a fascinating man with millions of interesting stories to tell! The class is a lot of work (and by no means easy), but I got so much out of it. The tests come almost exclusively from the readings (and are really not that hard, just a lot to know). If this is a topic you are interested in, take this class, but get ready to work!

Not a class for someone who wants credit with minimal effort. You have to be willing to pay attention. He doesn't lecture he picks a topic and thinks out loud about it. If you follow along with his visuals and make labels in your notes, you're fine. Ask for help and you will receive. Very intelligent man, always joking. DO NOT SKIP CLASS.

Even though he is very intelligent and tries to be helpful, his test material is almost completely different from the lectures. You might as well come for the review days and cram your textbook and reading.

He's an amazing professor, the best lecturer I've had, and one of the most intelligent men I've ever met. I've learned more from him than any other professor I've had. The tests are difficult, though. You absolutely must read your textbook and reader. They're where the test comes from. I just wish information from the lecture made it on the tests.

By far one of the most intelligent people I have met in the 47 years I have been alive. A difficult class for even the most avid student but well worth taking. If you are up to a challenge and enjoy learning from the best... take this course.

Ignore all of these bad reviews! Yes, this class is difficult. The first test, you will do bad on (unless you have a substantial bio background). But this man is one of the smartest individuals I have ever met. Extremely helpful, and insanely knowledgeable in his field. Plus he is hilarious! Make sure to read the text and reader.

He rambles and wastes time a lot, but the info is good and he knows his stuff. The tests are a little difficult. The lab section has mandatory attendance and is the best part about this class by far.

I really don't understand why he has so many bad ratings. He is an absolutely WONDERFUL lecturer. I learned SO much from this class! To do well on tests all just read the textbook, read the articles, and USE the website on the main textbook! A LOT of the questions come directly off of the multiple choice there!

He is one of the most interesting and Intelligent profs! Biomedical Forensics was extremely interesting but he doesn't have much sympathy for you if you are a nonbiology major, and having a strong background will carry you a long way. Attendence is a must and you must READ ALL handouts. Q's will be from handouts and lecture anecdotes
