Awesome guy! Really nice and interesting. I quite enjoy his classes. He is the kind of professor that enjoys all aspects of the university experience rather than just the academic side. Tries to get to know his students rather than seeing them as numbers.

The course content is interesting but I did not like studying with Dr. Hiller. I found him to be very fake and very conservative. He is very pretentious!

okay, so canadian society isn't exactly riveting stuff, but he's very enthusiastic, and his class wasn't too hard to keep up with (except readings). only one paper and two tests. was my easy class that semester. curves a lot to your advantage.

Not gonna lie, some of the topics covered are pretty dull, but Dr. Hiller tries to teach with as much enthusiasm as humanly possible. He's energetic, knowledgeable, and oddly kind of funny. I really enjoyed his teaching. Yes, both textbooks were written by him, but that probably has something to do with the fact that he created the class in the 70'

Really nice guy! Wants to get to know his students. Exams are multiple choice, make sure you go to class 'cause the notes he posts on BB aren't very in-depth at all.

I once had him for a different class and thought he was a bad teacher. Had him for SOCI 205 and discovered that he's actually very knowledgeable about Canada's history as well as the current events. Answers questions in a friendly, helpful manner.

I enjoyed his class and didn't think he was fake at all. Must attend lectures and read all material carefully. Notes are very clear and great, but he goes through them fast in class. If you do what he asks for the paper, you've got an A. Curves final grade so it's fair. Study hard. If you don't understand something, ask, don't sit there confused!

So surprised to hear people calling him fake! I thought he was very genuine and knows that he cares a great deal for his students. Class attendance is a must as well as reading the text cover to cover. If you do that, you'll be fine.

Attendance in this class is mandatory as none of his notes are posted online. Theories and concepts were relatively basic, but exams were a little difficult. Read all handouts and textbook readings and the class is a breeze. Very knowledgeable!

he is extremely self absorbed and plays obvious favoritism. He actually bought presents for one guy in our class and gave in front of everyone. He is a fake and in love with himself.. in constant search of someone to stroke his ego. if i could redo it i would not get to know him

He was an OK prof. The notes were pretty understandable, but some concepts were unclear and I didn't see how they were relevant to the course. Nonetheless, it was an interesting course to take. Exams were not bad, but all multiple choice, so make sure you know terms and such!

I would have to agree that he seems very ingenuine when it comes to students (he's fake).Pretends he cares but doesn't. Only way to pass is to go to class, read everything in the book he asks you to and prepare for massive note taking as he doesn't put detailed notes on BB.

Hated this guy. Pretends like he really cares about his students but when you try to talk to him one-on-one he is the most inconsiderate and rude prof ever! No fixed grading scale so you don't know what you're going to get in the course until he decides what to give you. Too much reading for a class like that. Tests are not hard.

Not a bad class pretty boring. Sometimes not too clear in lecture and forgets to talk about things that show up on the test. Need to memorize the text pretty much. Essay so easy. He curved the midterm so that a 76 was an A...class avg was 62

Overall good class, good prof. Runs a pretty enjoyable class for a 300+ room. Tests were kinda hard, but they curved up in the final calculation, pretty fair overall. Essay was a breeze, told you what to do, and as long as you did it, easy A. (wrote mine the night before). Dorky Dad persona might turn some people off.

I loved this class!Hiller really tries to get to know his students, he cares-unlike most profs at UofC- and really knows what hes talking about! Very interesting lectures and speakers, and is a very fair/easy marker.Attendence is mandatory, as there are no class notes, but tests and essays are straight forward and fair - my fav prof and class so far!

Dr.Hiller's class was so easy, but you have to show up and read what he assigns. Tests were multiple choice and straight forward. I don't know what people are complaining about. Easy A.
