Comment:

If you're looking for an easy UHC class to take, don't take hers. She grades heavily on participation and isn't very fair in the way she does. I once attended class, paid attention, asked one question, and only got 4/10 for the day. The group project was a pain as well. She's a nice lady and gives good feedback though.

Comment:

Dr. Bauman is an absolute peach. She's a little hard to get used to at first due to some of the different ways she manages class discussions, but I really get a lot out of her class. She's also very willing to listen to and work with you, so I highly encourage visiting with her in her office if you're having any questions or issues. Wonderful lady.

Dr. Bauman is amazing. She really cares about her students and their learning the material. She gives wonderful feedback. She expects your best work, and is available to clarify things or help when needed.

I really enjoyed this class because of the topics she covered and the examples she gave for them. She does assign several papers, and if you don't put all your effort into them, it will hurt you. As long as you put some effort into the papers, and group project, then do the learnsmarts, you should be fine. I failed a couple tests and still passed.

Dr. Bauman is very good at responding to emails. Her tests are easy, at least to me. However, she is terrible about getting grades back to us. It would usually take close to a month for her to grade anything. The book is online, so have fun spending $100 on a book you can't sell back. I also don't like reading an online book, so I never read it.

Dr. Bauman is awesome. We read the book online and had to complete quizzes at the end. Tuesdays she would lecture and Thursdays we were split up into our "lab groups". I always skipped her Tuesday lectures but read over her ppts, very helpful. I did the reading and quizzes online. Tests weren't that bad if you studied. Will take again in the future

Communication Theory with Dr. Larson is much easier than the other professors who teach it at MSU. As long as you read each chapter each week, the tests should be very easy. The paper is split up into so many portions that by the time you have to actually write and turn in the final paper, you don't really have much to do at all.

Tough class, but necessary if you are a COM major. I like that she splits the very large paper into doable portions, so that you can't put it off until the last minute. GO TO CLASS even though attendance is not necessary. I made a B, but could have made an A if I had not missed out on the participation points.

One of the best professors I've had so far at MSU. She knows what she's talking about and is more than willing to help her students. Tests are hard, but study and keep up with online hw and you can get a B no problem.

presentations every week, it is pretty hard. but I really like her, coz she is extremely nice and try to hear students' opinions first. I hope she will be back to a graduate adviser. She is the best teacher in MSU.

The only knock on Dr. Bauman is her not getting back to you quickly with emails & not getting you feedback on your assignments. I really like her teaching style & immediately recognized how smart she is on topics. She's the graduate advisor for EVERYONE, so I think she's overly busy -- but I look forward to more classes with her in the future.

Easy class but the teacher doesnt explain much about assignments. There are group tests which sounds easy but you have to completely depend on ur partners which can be bad. You need to go to class to get participation. The participation points can raise you a whole letter grade. I got B's on all the tests but went to class and got an A.

Holy moly! I've never worked harder or read more in any other class than this one. It's the hardest class of the com degree at MSU. If you're going to take com 209 take it with Dr. Bauman. Great prof. I only wish class was longer so I could learn more about what I read.

This class was wretched when I took it, but apparently the curriculum has changed and it is much better. Nonetheless, while the class was terrible, Dr. Bauman is an AMAZING instructor. Highly intelligent and respectful and helpful to all of her students. Very great human being!

She started new teaching methods this semester. As a class we decided on how many tests, papers, and assignments. There are only three papers. The tests come directly from the study guides. Easy if you study. She is soo nice and fun. We play games in class to learn the theories. She is very helpful when you get confused.
