Pretty easy class. Show up and take notes. He does not take attendance but it helps you if you show up. 3 in classes essays and very few homework assignments, but not too difficult. He's a great guy and is hilarious in class. He's super willing to help if you need accommodations too!

He is an amazing professor and sparked an interest in philosophy for me. He made some dry topics interesting by including jokes and personal stories. He gives you the test questions ahead of time. You can not read the books and still get a B because he's so thorough in his lectures.

Dr. Crumley speaks Greek philosophy like he wrote it. You must write down his exact phrasing to do well on the tests or else one wrong word makes the whole argument wrong. He is confusing in office hours. You truly understand the subject when he makes jokes or relates the philosophy to pop culture.

Crumley has the most adorable sense of humor ever. If you pay attention in class and do practice problems you'll do well. His humor helps you learn concepts better in my opinion :) He's a lenient grader, take him!

Class not difficult - he lectured pretty much the whole time. there were 2 midterms and a final - all essay and he gave 4 or 5 questions before the test and then would pick 1 or 2 of those to test on. pay attention in class and take notes because his phrasing helps a lot for the tests

Jack was one of only two professors in my undergraduate and graduate education that I was not able to corner in debates. He is a true philosopher and a great teacher.

PHIL of Human Nature wasn't the most interesting of subjects, but Crumley made the lectures interesting and funny. There are two midterms and a final, which are all in class essays. He gives the questions out before and basically answers them for you. Pay attention and you're good. Can skip and still get a good grade, reading isn't too bad.

Sitting in his lecture is like watching a goldfish swim around his bowl for an hour. The process is anything but linear, and you have no idea what's going on. He will make a point, and then completely trail off onto something else. If you take notes, you'll have a bunch of unfinished sentences. I.E. "And Socrates' major point is skjfdn"

awesome teacher. his teaching is very organized, follows the book by chapter. He explains everything well and welcome questions. None of the homework is graded, but it will help you to do it. Tests reflect the hw. Take him, but actually try and youll get an a!

Starting off, Professor Crumley is a super kind and intelligent man, but incredibly dry and boring to me. His lectures never clicked with me nor really made sense. Having said that, the class was somehow really easy. I didn't study once outside of class and sort of paid attention in class and still somehow got B's on every single exam.

It is a very hard class. Your brain will hurt after every class. The essays tear your soul right out of your body with how much you have to think about the prompts and the content. But, it IS a GE class, and he tends to give you a higher grade than you think your going to get. If you work VERY hard, you can get an A. Otherwise, in the B range.

Prof Crumley was my favorite professor at USD. I took multiple classes from him and became a philosophy major just so he could be my advisor. I would recommend him to both phil majors and non-majors alike. In every class he made the material interesting and really sought to personalize the classes for every student.
