Jane is a hilarious lecturer and a very kind, caring professor. I almost wish I had to take more biology classes to have her. She is very knowledgeable and her review sessions for exams were insanely helpful. Would NOT recommend this class, but would recommend her for any other future biology course!

Jane Phillips definitely teaches the class in her own way. She'll make silly jokes and connect what you read to real life situations. The exams are slightly tricky though, but they have a nice curve. Make sure you read all the material and definitely look over lecture slides. It pays to delve deeper into lecture material on your own for the tests.

She is one of the best professors I have had! She's super nice and funny. The only problem I would say about her is that she grades pretty hard on the 3 essays you write. She doesn't give tests either.

What a wonderful teacher! This is definitely the best bio to take to fulfill the requirement and she is so funny! The labs were actually interesting and super easy and her study sessions were too the point and very helpful. She gives you assignments to help boost your grade and is just a doll!

Took this class to fulfill my bio lib ed, and I am so glad I did! The subject matter is easy to follow because the course was designed for non-bio majors. Jane is really sweet, caring, understanding and entertaining professor. I highly suggest this class! :)

Jane is great! I don't really like Biology but she's the funniest professor I've had by far and she tells great stories and always answers questions. She'll go out of her way to hold study sessions before tests which help a ton and is very clear on what will be on the test. TAKE HER! you won't regret it

I hope I can be as awesome as Jane someday. She makes research fun, and hilarious. Her teaching style is very personable and approachable. Many students, transfers or not, come into the college intimidated and hesitant to voice their opinions in the name of science. She takes science and research off the pedestal and makes it accessible.

This was her freshman seminar "Being Human" Very easy because it was a seminar, but I liked Jane because her classroom setting was very laid back and she was very approachable.

Phillips' lectures were interesting and pertinent to the course materials. She is quite amusing, in a quirky science way, and quite willing to answer questions outside of the classroom. She places a lot of emphasis on the process of scientific research and how to become involved. With hard work an A is easily achievable.

Jane is very helpful, however the class was taught by two professors - the other, Florence Gleason - was HORRIBLE. If it wasn't for Jane, I would have had no interest in the class and probably would have done much worse.

The subject matter addressed in this class is VERY technical and the expectations are VERY high. Expect to read more scientific journal articles than textbook chapters. Jane is kind, patient, approachable and very available for questions outside of class, even at the 11th hour. I owe a lot of my understanding of the material to her personally.

She lacks a schedule as to when/what she teaches. There is a lot of outside homework that doesn't really relate to the lecture. She is however incredibly helpful if you go up and ask her to explain it to you personally after class as well as in office hours. very good teacher.

Lots of work assigned, very independent learning, lacks organization. Expect to talk in groups, non-traditional lecture style if you even get a lecture. She tries to make you think like a scientist and analyze problems. Must know science inside and out. Hard teacher.

very mean grading system, no plus or minus sign. grade, the reason is it's only a 1 credit class. doesn't respect students' effort at all.
