Comment:

There is lots of reading homework. Most of the time you have to read to understand the lecture. The lectures are very interesting and thought provoking. I would take this class if you want to be challenged, especially on your beliefs. I dont agree with everything she says but shes a great teacher and I learned a lot.

Dr. Johnson is really nice and a very interesting teacher! she is very clear on assignments and what you need to know for tests. There isn't very much reading but some of the info may show up on the quiz. There are no surprises with her. She keeps things lively and I would definitely take her class again!

Comment:

She teaches a good Old Testament course. If you're trying to get an A I would recommend only taking this if you're fantastic at memorization. The tests are, in my opinion, 100% objective. Granted there are short answer and an essay, but they are graded on a "one fact one point" basis. The two short papers are also very easy.

Dr. Johnson is a very laid back professor. She assigns reading almost every night and discusses the reading in her lectures. I rarely read my book and got out of the class with a B+. You won't be able to pass the quizzes or tests if you don't study, however. Other than that, there were only 2 papers assigned and the class is fairly easy.

I took New Testament since I heard Old Testament was pretty tough. Dr. Johnson was probably the best religion teacher you could ask for. She goes through all the material and even gives you review sheets with the possible essays are going to be. I found her class really interesting. Don't expect to get an easy A. You have to study and read.

She is great! I could have got an A but I was taking with 3 other classes. Do the readings. Quizzes are easy-straight from readings. we had 2 papers to write. Not bad. she mostly lectures. no powerpoint. take notes. she gives exam review sheets. exams and final were fair. responds quickly to email. very helpful, nice and friendly-take her!

I took both Old and New Testament with Dr.Johnson and I think she is fantastic. She makes the subject interesting by questioning everything in the text. She will push you to think about what you have been taught to believe.

she is awesome. she's the easiest gen ed prof i ever had. the quizzes and tests are fairly straight forward from the notes i took in class. the only problem is that the grading scale of A is 92-100.

Are you Kidding? Dr. Johnson is an amazing teacher. He class is so easy and she kept my interests. She questions the bible more than I do and I am an atheist. This class is really easy, just take notes in class, the quizzes are from the notes and the tests are insanely easy, she gives you a study guide. She is really sweet,super into the subject, and a really fair grader.

She is SO nice and interesting to listen to. All you have to do is pay attention in class and at least scan the textbook and you will do fine. You do actually have to try on her essays on tests, but she gives a study guide with two possible essay questions (one on test) and ALL of the important terms beforehand. Drops two lowest quizzes. Great.

Janell Johnson is my favorite professor at Mercer! She is so passionate about what she teaches and that really helps students take an interest in the material, too. She is very willing to help you...you just have to make the effort. She is not the easiest of professors, but it is definitely worth it to take one of her classes! I learned a lot!
