Acts as if their class is the only class you are taking. Took her class because I needed another class and it became the class I had to do the most work in. Non stop homework that can take up hours to complete. Extremely hard grader when it comes to papers.

Tough grader and giver of homework but overall she's a wonderful teacher. I really enjoyed her class even though it wasn't one of her areas of expertise. She was excellent at facilitating class discussion.

You only spend about three weeks covering actual folktales (at the end). Russian Folklore could almost be called "Russian History." She is an extremely picky grader. I am a senior and she is the first professor to give me a D on a paper. She counts off for pet peeves.

Hard grading, but really interesting class. She makes it fun and while she does grade pretty hard, I still ended up with an A because of a final project where you do folklore research on a ritual specific to your family/region. Since she's so interested in that, I think she graded leniently. Says attendance is requ., but I skipped 10+ times.

I've never left a lecture feeling like the content wasn't made crystal clear. She is incredibly understanding, flexible and friendly: she even made our final paper optional. She holds student work to a reasonable standard that is not too hard to meet, even for a procrastinator like myself.

She teaches her classes like college classes, not like modified high school classes. You have to think for yourself, but you learn a lot. Papers are a breeze because she has no set number of pages, you write whatever length you need to complete the assignment. She's also really helpful and easy to talk to.

She was one of about 3 professors I had at UK who actually taught at a collegiate level. Those complaining about her strictness regarding grammar should be complaining about their high school English teacher instead, who obviously failed to prepare them for college. She's hard but fair, and would do much after hours to help a student if necessary.

Very passionate about teaching Russian. I enjoyed the class a lot. She's not an easy grader, but you get the opportunity to redo any homework assignment and you get to correct your tests to get more points back. She's fair, and mostly just wants you to learn the language.

She wasn't too bad but didn't really give you enough information on some things to be able to write the way you should have. She pays CLOSE attention to grammar and spelling so DONT get points taken off for that. Homework is pretty easy as long as you answer each question - just give your opinion and your set. You do have to work though.

Grades extremely difficult on papers. You never know your grades until the end of the semester. Class is much more difficult and analyzed than it should be.

Quite the “flamboyant character.” Spelling and grammar are huge to her. Get ready to read your eyes out and write a trillion papers about nothing. She doesn't “require lengths” on the papers she assigns, but you had better write a lot. Crazy hair-cut that she always pushes back with her hand and it always falls back exactly the way it was before.

Fluffy subject matter and cloying respect for individual learning styles meets the comma police - this was my last class in the linguistics department.

An unduly tough grader. She lets you know exactly what she wants (although she never tells you that she considers contractions a spelling error until the first time you put one in a paper), but her expectaions are a bit ludicrous.
