Comment:

Overall he is a great professor! He really wants his students to succeed in every aspect of life. As far as grading goes, exam and finals are open book but, I warn you if you dont bother reading before hand chances are you WILL FAIL! He offers ALOT of EXTRA CREDIT but dont rely on that to pass since he raffles the spots. Attendance is a MUST!!!

Anyone who goes to PCC and need a lab science class - take this guy! The field trips are really cool, hes super easy (open book tests: exams and final) and he clearly wants you to pass. I missed a lot of days and he was super willing to help. The only downfall is his class is really early but it will make you more active throughout the day!

I loved this class, easy A if you're actually smart. I can't believe people do so poorly and rate him badly considering every test is open book, easy quizzes, extra credit. It's also nice being taught from an SC alum. Only problem is he always changes his mind and there's no canvas grading. Loved the class as I love marine bio but 7am class sucked

He doesnt make the powerpoints or tests so he skips over stuff sometimes. all he talks about is how to be a leader. very boring. his tests are difficult considering he barely teaches the powerpoint

One of the most boring professors I have ever had. He is a horrible lecturer. Many people in the class have fallen asleep during lecture. His constant pausing for 10 seconds mid-sentence drove me insane. You dont need to pay attention to his lectures, just read the book and do the homework. Worst professor. Dont take his class.

Dr. Conner is a nice man, however he is not the best teacher. He lectures straight from the PP, lots of YouTube videos in lab(no dissections), and most of what I learned was from my reading in the book. Field trips were interesting, but the drive is long. Study the quizzes before the exams, get as many bonus points as you can, attendance mandatory.

Dr. Conner might seem as intimidating but he is actually very approachable. His class lectures are kind of boring because he goes over powerpoints but sometimes his jokes are pretty funny. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities so be sure to take them. He shows that he cares about your career success beyond his class.

Any one of the comments that are saying how he isn't clear during his lectures are wrong. Yes he does get a little side tracked with playing videos more often than other professors, but the videos are relevant to the topic in class. Also anyone having the audacity to say that his tests are hard are the ones not trying. Your using a book LOLOLOL....

All the other posts need to be taken literally. Most boring lectures ever & is very unclear about what will be on the tests, yes they're open book but only for limited time so not very helpful. Watches a lot of YouTube videos that he randomly picks but does not ever relate to the topic!! EC is limited & only helps some depending on who receives it.

It was the snoozefest of a lifetime with no form of interest in the subject taught from the instructor, at least that is the impression I received. Im sure people won't rely on extra credit to pass a class that shouldn't be so blan.

Good guy. Very vague. Can be condescending. Gets off topic A LOT. He should be a mentor instead of BIO teacher. Labs are confusing. Lectures sound like ramblings.

Dr. Conner may mean well but his class doesn't teach much of marine biology. It's a lot of YouTube videos during lab & readinf straigh from the PowerPoint during lecture. Lots of EC opportunities. Pretty much a self-teaching class. Open textbook during test/quizzes.

Dr. Conner is a professor that really cares about his students. He really want everyone to do well. He might seem intimidating at first but he is extremely nice and helpful. This class is basically just test and lab. Tests are not too difficult and it's open book. For the lab quizzes just pay close attention to his lab lectures.

Lectures are long and boring. He reads straight from the PowerPoints. Gives extra credit, but does not use class time effectively. A lot of the things he talks about are irrelevant to the course. I would not recommend this class.

Joe is a good prof. His voice and personality reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson. He's funny in his own way. He is definitely into Biology so that makes it fun. He likes it when you ask questions because you stand out. SO ASK QUESTIONS. go to his office hrs. if you need it. book not really necessary since his power points are from the book. TAKE!

Professor Conner is an excellent teacher. He cares so much about his students and is always so interested about their career goals and finding ways to help. His tests are not too difficult, but reading and studying for the tests are a must. He does offer extra credit, and the labs are very straight forward. He is very knowledgable and approachable!

I really suspect that all the good comments are from himself. The quiz is unbilievable hard, we even can not find the relative component from the book. That's ridiculous!!!

Comment:

Super easy professor. Ask him about his football career while he got his doctorate at USC. Doesn't know very much about marine bio, but gives you totally unrelated opportunities to earn EC (charity events, volunteer @ fundraisers, etc). Lets you use the textbook on exams/quizzes. I got inebriated on my final and still finished the class with 120%!
