Amazing prof. One of the few where the work is worth it. This class is paper heavy with textbook reading and response papers but it IS college level work. Lectures are packed with info and always interesting, thanks to his teaching style. Great attitude, funny, but don't be rude in his class, he'll call you out. Great material and prof. TAKE!

I liked John's class ! He has a unique way of teaching and he definitely has the knowledge on the subjects he is teaching on. EASY A, but you still learn interesting information. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!!

One of my favorite teachers at De Anza. He respects his students and is very clear and concise in lecture. He engages his students well and encourages discussion. You can have fun in his classes, you just have to be expecting to write and read quite a bit. But what else is to be expected in college?

He swears a lot, which is hilarious. He's a really good teacher, but beware we do a lot of response papers. Basically twice a week we have to turn in a 2-3 page summary and response of an article from a textbook. It's not difficult, but it's volume.

WOAH! i cannot stress enough how much i learned in his class!! i decided to take this class through the rating here, but it's true! 2-3pgs due each meeting! but its only needed 15/19 though and grades hellla easy! Class was always interesting to attend to since john tries his best to get people talkin so its not just lecture

i pick my teachers from rate my prof. all the time.never failed me. except this one time.big mistake.good teacher and all but every monday wednesday 3 page paper is due.tons of reading.the exams are hard.i studied and i still failed.this classed drained me.while taking notes if you ask him to repeat something he wont do it.dont take this dude.

He is a very good teacher, but if you are not willing to do the work, this is NOT the class for you. The information is not only interesting but it is also useful in life. Again, there is tons of work involved but I feel like it is worth it in the end. Go to class and pay attention! =)

Good Prof! Took his summer class, so short and LOTS of homework (a 2page paper every night). But it was a very good class. He is VERY liberal, but willing to hear other points of view, and doesn't factor differences of opinion into grading. Highly recommend his Intro to Sociology, just maybe not during the summer semester!

Great guy, very fun class. Written assignment every week. Be prepared to do a LOT of writing. End of quarter, 4-8 page final plus group project, 3 pages per person. A little hectic at times but fun.

he is a great professor, I learned so so so so so so much from his class. The work is easy, it's the discussions that are important, he loves to just hear your opinions on different topics. you will learn a lot. and he is easy, just be respectful...you only have a short response paper due every week 1 page.

john got me to major in sociology! the class is really interesting to me. i think maybe there was only ONE day that i was not entirely interested. he has multiple choice or fill in the blank semi short quizzes, weekly responses (which are not difficult), and a very very long family autobiography. its an interesting class, but that's just how i feel
