May be intimidating at first, and will take whatever you say very literally. Don't be afraid to ask him for help or clarity. Very smart professor.

One of the great 'old guard' of professors at Centenary College. May appear brusque and intimidating at first. Part of that dying breed of chalkboard-and-lecture-only, low-tech teaching. Very energetic, enthusiastic, loves the subject, and is fair, helpful, and kind. He is a great guy and a great professor.

His lectures are not structured enough for my taste. The discussion tends to veer off topic and not highlight the important points of the lesson. He also seems to be overly harsh with papers, but I think this is meant to make you work harder on revising them.

Was forced to take him for Shakespeare. In class essays every class. Memorized sonnet presentations every class. Hard grader. Boring classes. But at least he has a personality. Overall I wish I didn't have to take his class because it is going to ruin my gpa!

Dr. Holt is one of the best professors at Centenary. He rips apart papers and has made me a much better writer. He has strong personal opinions of the literature discussed but is willing to hear your point of view. As long as you have textual support, he will give your idea credit. He is a very difficult professor, but he is worth taking.

I transferred from Centenary last spring and Holt was probably the best prof. I've ever had. Smart, rambles, sweats, but cool and willing to meet you half way if you are willing to do the same. Def. a prof. that i won't forget - World Religions - you won't forget the def. of mythos vs. logos

Great prof! He has to teach a group of students who tend to be disinterested in learning (not all). If you want to learn, take his course. If not, then take another course while also taking advantage of the employment recruitment campaign at Walmart.

Dr. Holt cant seem to be able to reach his students, or to make them interested in the class whatever the subject. Avoid this one.. Teqaching is not just standing there assigning useless homework, but its about the students learning, not about a professor regurgitating knowledge.. very bad

He pretends to an intelligence that I really don't think he has. He tries to make himself look smart by making things unnecessarily complicated. I got an "A" by playing his game.

Dr. Holt is a very intelligent man...but a terrible professor. He constantly goes on tangents that are completely unrelated to class. He's very opinionated, and dismisses those who disagree. Seems to enjoy philosophy & religion more than literature.
