Comment:
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This man is by far the worst I have ever had. He talks about nonsense the entire class- none of which is relevant. He loves to hear himself talk and insults his students. Ex: We went on a field trip and he interrupted the tour guide every chance he got. All his students dreaded his class. Easy A but you SUFFER through it.

Only a handful of papers are assigned for the semester, and they need not be very long (2-3 pages). Most days begin with a quiz on the short story(s) assigned for that day which aren't bad at all if you read what was assigned from the book and reflected on them a bit. The rest of class involves discussion which is laid back and sometimes reading.

I had Doctor Bernheim for 112 and absolutely loved him. He was a super feisty old man, but he often pointed out things that students would miss in the reading. His quizzes were easy, and we knew about them since the very first day of the semester. The reading was never too much, and even the papers were really easy as long as you used paragraphs.

Worst professor ever. Absolutely awful, rude, and disrespectful to students. Didn't learn a single thing the entire semester, just listened to his long-winded rants that we usually ignored. Got pissy sometimes, ignore him. Easy A, though.

He is a really easy grader on essays. You have quizzes on reading often however and you have to do the reading because he acts specific questions. Easy but not enjoyable to have as a professor because he is rude and mean. He often talked about himself more than the course. You do have to go to class though because he takes attendance.

Super laid back class. He is a very lenient and easy grader. Make sure to bring your textbook to class, or he will get angry. Pretty much lectures about random things, but feel free to zone out because there are no exams, only 5 question quizzes over the short reading assignments. KNOW AUTHOR & DATE.

Easy class if you are already a good writer since your grades are basically your three papers you write and the weekly quizzes which are very easy as long as you do the reading. If you don't want to be called on constantly, sit in the back.

As an education major, I love children's literature, but Dr. B. made the topic quite boring. We spent over half the semester talking about Charlotte's Web, and we crammed everything else in during the last few weeks. Easy, easy class, but he treats us like we're stupid sometimes and lectures can be inordinately dull.

Super easy class but totally boring. He really enjoys listening to himself talk and most of the things he talks about are completely irrelevant to what we are learning about. Only allowed to miss 2 classes or start losing points. but if you manage to make it through the semester you'll get an A.

Easy A. Go to class, because he takes attendance every day. 90% of the grade in the class was taken from two very short papers. Read the materials for the frequent quizes, but don't stress about them. Bernheim is an interesting fellow who knows a lot of random stuff and loves to hear himself talk, though he has a good sense of humor.

You have to go to class and only get 3 freebies. Take notes the first half of class for the midterm because you will need it, and do the study guide, but the second half you just have to write a paper on one book. I brought my computer to class and did other things all the time second half of the year. Definitely easy A and his is funny.

Easiest 'A' I ever earned. He goes off on many tangents and has no regard for time (always goes over). However, I enjoyed the books he chose, and the few quizes he has are beyond easy. Take it to pad your GPA and read kids books again :)

Dr. Bernheim is one of the easiest professors at Miami. He takes attendance and takes off points for being absent. He is very interesting. He calls on random people to answer his questions in class. You have many quizzes (easy). I got a 100% in the class. If you want an easy A take ENG 262 with Bernheim.

If you are looking for an easy 'a' his class is for you, he gives them out like candy! He is distracted and many times gets off on ridiculous tangents. He may be confusing because the class is taught with no syllabus and for that matter seemingly no plan. His quizzes are easy, even if you answer wrong, if you explain yourself you still get points.

Most of your time in class will be spent discussing random tangents (where he is sometimes misinformed) or listening to him say the same thing in twenty different ways. If you want a GPA booster, this class is for you. If you really want to get something substantial out of the course and its material, you're better off elsewhere.

Very intelligent guy and an informative class. No exams, some quizzes over reading and a few papers. Very subjective grader, he does not use or give a rubric. Make sure you speak up in class.

He's got some interesting points, but really only consider taking one of his classes if you can handle his tangents and pretty offbeat nature. Grading seems intimidating, but turned out to be pretty reasonable. Know your random quotes!
