Comment:

Prof. Guerra is THE WORST. The man cannot teach whatsoever. Lectures are dull and lack structure and he expects you to remember and unrealistic amount of material. He is clearly intelligent but cannot communicate. I completed all of the extra credit and passed with a low C. Many students dropped the first week and the remaining all got C's. AVOID!!

Comment:

Mr. Guerra is extremely soft-spoken and difficult to understand during lectures. His handwriting is sloppy and it is hard to read what he writes on the board. When he solves examples on the board, he will come up with the incorrect answer and say that 'something went wrong' and that there's no time to look for the mistake he made. Do NOT take him.

Comment:

The homework is key to major extra credit points and getting a solid understanding of the material. He's very generous with grading and gives you points if he feels that you understand the concept. Very qualified and knowledgable but may have a hard time understanding a student's needs.

I dropped on the second day of class. The first 2 classes he was literally solving the problem on his on and we were just looking at the projector trying to figure out what he was doing.

Comment:

Difficult to follow lectures. He's very soft spoken, I could barely hear him from the second row of the room. He teaches by doing problems on the overhead, but his notes were all over the place. Ended up dropping the class once I realized I would have to teach myself from the book, even after 5 hours of in class instruction a week.

By far one of the toughest classes I've taken. There were others in there taking the class for a 2nd & 3rd time. We ended with about 10 students. This professor is a literal rocket scientist, so he knows his stuff. What makes him great is how much he works with you & WANTS you to pass. PRACTICE the sections & don't get behind if you want to pass.

Speaks quickly and with an accent, engineer by trade so has excellent understanding of material, but has difficulty empathizing with those who don't understand or are slow to grasp material. Stay away if not proficient with math, little patience, and even less charity. In one sentence; you will more than likely be teaching yourself out of the book.

Cool guy who knows what he's doing, but I don't attend class to meet a cool guy... cannot teach at all. Literally writes a problem on the board and tells you a shortcut then moves to the next problem. Monotone with no break. Waste of time if you actually need the aid of the teacher to grasp the material

This is a great example of a person who is an engineer by trade and knows his stuff. HOWEVER has never gone to school to learn how to teach. His teaching style is doing the problem on the board, skipping many steps essential to understanding (often making mistakes). He rushes through material. Tests very hard. Avoid like the plague.. most fail

Don't take this class unless you are an independent learner. His lecture are long and boring, he also talks really soft so it was hard to hear. But when you actually talk to him, he's very nice and answer all your questions even if the question was on the test. Get an A in the class before final exam then you won't have to take the exam.

This is a tough class expect to do some work. Ask for help he is available after hours and will answer email questions. Don't be afraid to speak up. Do the homework! It is not mandatory but his quizzes (every week) and Exams are based on homework assignments. Knowing your algebra is a must, he teaches assuming you have a strong foundation.

I don't recommend Jorge G. He attempts to teach you the lesson plans but between the language barrier & inability to actually answer your questions makes the class difficult to pass. The ability to learn in that class is minimal and your question won't be answered in a simpler way. Most of the class is failing, no particiaption&he still goes on

This guy was probably one of the worst teachers i've ever had, does care to help and doesn't care if students pass or fail (Majority of the students in my Business calculus class FAILED) i personally & honestly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY.

His accent at first sounded like a strange cross between spanish and german, which made it hard to understand him. He also does not slow down during teaching and gets mad when someone asks for him to repeat. He makes many mistakes in his own math as well. I do not recommend him.

Comment:

One of the best professors on campus, he is always willing to answer questions and will even spend Friday nights (office hours) to help you with whatever problem you have in the class. There is lots of extra credit, and lots of quizzes/points to boost your grade. if you have a question ASK! ppl who get scared to ask questions might get left behind

He is good teacher and knows what he is doing. He will do everything in his power to help you understand and pass his class. Just pay attention and do the assignments and you will do good in his class.
