Wonderful and one of my most engaging professors. He made this class, that I thought would be dull and boring, one of my most memorable classes. He played live music and described paintings with such passion that it's hard not to fall in love with the subject yourself. Amazing teacher! Don't miss an opportunity to take a class with him..

If you attend class, you will pass. He is particular, but not unreasonable. He can recite any literature from memory, even in a dead language. He can play for you the classical piece of music he is teaching. He is a brilliant man. And attractive ;)

I've taken many classes with Dr. Thompson, so my opinion of him is probably already fairly obvious. That said, the clarity of his lecture is unparalleled, even with the most complicated of subject matter. He doesn't condescend to his students, and is willing to do whatever he can to ensure that his students have the best possible experience.

My first encounter with Dr. Thompson was in a German philosophy class that I had NO interest in taking. 3 days into it and I was hooked. Hard as hell, but the man is brillant and fantastic at getting through to his students. His teachings are, in my opinion, the most valuable I've experienced so far in any college class.

Dr. Thompson is the best instructor I've sat under. He is extremely intelligent and non-condescending. He seems sincere in his approach to education and his desire to educate his pupils. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn and stretch their thinking. He is the standard all instructors should attain to.

take his best reviews from this site; i agree with the majority. intellectually open and honest; brilliant man (has whole passages of shakespeare memorized), fluent in greek and german; definitely loves to teach. tests are easy if you actually read and think about the material. class is a lot of fun!

Amazing teaching skills. I enjoyed the enthusiasm, the teaching style, and the test format. The repetitive review of sculptures, paintings, and other pictures truelly grounded the information in my memory. I was not interested in the class at all before taking the class, but gained interest through each class period. Thanks for the great class.

Speaks like acting.Engaging voice but totally anal and nit-picky.He will mark a test fill-in-the-blank answer half wrong just because the word wasn't capitalized.He never has multiple choice questions.I answered representative on a test instead of representational and he marked it wrong.easy tests but he picks at it until you have at least a low A.
