She's a very nice and attentive teacher, but her lectures were hard to follow and she didn't give that good of advice when I asked for help. The tests were hard but not impossible, I just wish that she handled in class lectures better.

Took this class as a general and she seems very nice, but I didn't feel like I learned anything from her lectures. She often gets off topic and flustered. She also said there would be no textbook, but had every student pay for a subscription to TopHat, which was $40 for a semester, to do homework on instead of using D2L for free.

I'm mixed on Dr. Winkler. I'm currently taking an AST 102 class with her, and she has decided to use TopHat for online exams and homework, so after you've paid $40 for a semester subscription, you can do all your homework online. But, she seems to be very scatterbrained, and does not respond to emails. She also gets flustered very easily.

She does use textbooks but they're online and free. The class feels a little aimless but she's passionate about what she teaches and is always open to answering questions. A little wordy.

Easy class if you pay attention and do the assignments. Book is important for assignments. She can have trouble being clear about certain things in lecture but if you ask her for individual help, she is very helpful and much more clear. Tests aren't too difficult. Study the practice exams and other practice problems.

Very smart, although her lectures seemed to drag on at times. In front of a larger class, she seemed to get flustered, but whenever I went to see her in her office, she would make perfect sense. I look forward to taking smaller classes with her in the future.

Horrible class. She is a terrible instructor. you learn nothing from class. I had to get a tutor and had to teach my self out of the book. the text book is also terrible. She explains nothing in class. She doesn't give notes. she just goes over practice problems that aren't helpful. She is very nice and very willing to help. she really cares.

Mechanics is the core foundation of Physics. You all have been doing Mechanics since you got hooked yourself on Physics. I learned a lot in her class, especially about Nonlinear differential equations and the calculus of variation, and the rotation of rigid bodies. She encouraged us working in a group, which developed skills to work in a team.

Dr. Winkler is one smart, caring and very helpful inside and outside class. I took both physics 200 and 201 with her and has gained lots of knowledge ....specially from the lab. Dr. Winkler really knows her stuff...In the future, that is how i want to become....comfortable and love my career just like she plays with physics. very nice person!!!!!!!

As chair of the department, she sets the standard for all physics prof's she knows all about physics and is great at "dumbing it down" for the undergrad. I've learned a lot from Dr. W, she is scatterbrained, but that is the trademark to any good physicist, ask a question and you'll get a realistic answer you can understand.

She is a little scatterbrained, but does a real good job getting conceptual ideas across. If you at least skim the reading and do the homework, class should not be a problem

She doesn't lecture. You read the book before class and then you go in and have a quiz and do a worksheet. If you want some sort of lecture you can watch one online OUTSIDE of class...kind of ridiculous!
