Prof Swinth is very intelligent and eloquent. Her classes are interesting, but she is a bit scatterbrained and a tough grader. However she makes it clear what her expectations are and if you can follow them you'll be fine.

Comment:
Prof Swinth is very smart and respected at Fordham, yet her actual teaching skills are somewhat lacking. She will definitely make you learn a lot, but her vague comments and harsh grades make the class extremely stressful. She also missed a lot of class and cancelled office hours, which made getting help on assignments hard.

Comment:
Professor Swinth is a very caring and kind professor who enjoys her work as a historian. Great lectures, she makes history interesting. However, there is a ton of reading per class and her exams are based off of them. For this class we had to recognize random quotes from the readings enough to write context on it. Second part was an essay.

An intelligent and caring professor. Assigns a ton of reading that is quite intimidating, but do the best you can with it and you'll get by. She's a bit awkward to talk to but she cares about her students and wants to help you. Make sure you participate in class though! Her grading can be a bit harsh but she's not anything like these reviews say.

Lectures, readings, and discussions were incredibly interesting and insightful. Weighed papers more heavily than participation and tests. Pretty tough grader, but definitely not unreasonable. Definitely interested in the learning and development of individual student. Overall, one of the best professors I've had at Fordham! Definitely reccomend!

Tough, tough class, but a requirement for Amer. Studies major. Lots of reading that you're forced to critique in lengthy blackboard posts every week, so be ready for that in addition to several long papers throughout the semester. On the plus side, she is a great person overall. Just be prepared to work hard and neglect your other classes somewhat.

Lots of work, but interdisciplinary major is certainly worth it. Can be a tough grader, but utilize office hours and her assistance and she can be good

Kinda disorganized. Very nice, obviously likes teaching a lot, but class always gets off-topic. Grading can be random. She assigns a lot of reading, but you don't have to do most of it.

Really interesting and will definitely help you if you ask. As much as I enjoyed the class, don't take it if you're looking for an easy A. You can work your ass off and still not get one.

Very nice lady, class material is vague, and her teaching style increases its vagueness. Lot of reading and writing, but if you participate it helps. Fair grader, and always available for extra help.

brilliant, serious, facilitates discussion. she's a tough grader, so if you're a moron...stay away. assigns diverse, thought-provoking readings- although they ARE a little much, you don't have to read every single thing to do fine in the class.

Be prepared to read and PARTICIPATE. grades fairly difficultly, but if you refer to the readings and formulate a very clear thesis statement you should be ok. dont think you can slack off and get a good grade though, cause she does not put up with lazin
