Comment:

Although she doesnt check attendance there are daily 10 question quizzes. The quizzes are true and false and fairly easy if you read. There was only one paper the whole semester. Just a lot of short stories you have to read, but they usually are interesting.

Comment:

Lane Dare is a tough teacher, but she is one of the best English teachers I have ever had. You have to read to pass the class, and you have to show up as there are quizzes almost every day. She is a bit intimidating, but you get used to it and you'll find out that she is actually really great. I loved her class and I would love to have her again.

If you take her make sure you go to every class because she gives quizzes at the beginning of most classes, shes a great WCS100L teacher. The class has alot of content for a 100L class but she is willing to help you through and would give credit whenever she can.

WCS 100L She has way too much in the schedule planned for just a single semester. I have a hard time interpreting stories and digging into the "deeper meanings" of the readings. She did not provide much help. She is very condescending . I had a personal event that made me fall behind and she was not understanding and barely worked with me to pass.

WCS 100L. schedule a bit pointless, not followed b/c storm & even after we caught up, items got moved. very intense. I'm a math person, not into literature and poetry, so I'm not doing well in the course. 15ish quizzes, lowest 3 are dropped. a lot of work for 100 lvl class. wouldn't have taken if not gen ed req. goes on tangents, uses free textbook

I am so glad I took from Mrs. Dare. She is intense and doesn't put up with bs or laziness but she is an excellent professor. Most of this class is lecture/quiz review but her ultimate goal is to help unlock the concepts of the incredible literature you read during the semester. I wish I could take her again!Just be respectful and engage the work!

An intense and passionate lecturer. I learned so much about world cultures and literature from this class! Definitely attend class because they're are many in class quizzes at the very start of class. I would definitely take from her again!

First week of class and my binder was not setup. I told her that I could not find the relevant reading on blackboard. Her response was far from understanding and down right rude. If she was not a teacher I would have had choice words instead of politely telling her id be switching professors.

When she's talking about English and literature, the content is pretty reliable. When she starts talking about history, humanities, science, and religion, she is too often annoyingly wrong. Challenging her in class isn't productive, but make sure you question everything she says, even if that just means using Google after class.

You will have a quiz in every single class, and they count more than all of the grades. Three papers, including the final exam, the writing center won't be a help. She takes any 100 level courses like a 400 level course. She is super rude and her rubrics for papers or directions on assginment, is very unclear. Be careful and be aware, best of luck.

I did not enjoy Lane Dare class because she was very rude and condescending. Because of this being a writing intensive class, she does not give out clear rubrics and does not give students clear directions on formatting. She grades hard and you will find yourself quite disappointed with her as a professor. You will not learn anything with her.

Professor Dare is hands down one of the best professors I have had along my educational journey! She is so passionate about what she teaches and really pushes for her students to do well and understand the material! I wish she taught more classes that I needed for my major!

Dr. Dare is very knowledgeable, you can tell she cares for all her students to understand the work. Was always available to check your work before turning it in and gave good feedback. She gave a quiz almost every class. The hardest part for me was the writing but she gave us chances to get it right. She's a rock star!

Lane Dare takes her 100 level elective literature course way too seriously. I believe she thinks World studies is a 400 level course. Don't miss class because you won't do well on quizzes or the midterm/final. WOULD NOT TAKE HER AGAIN. Unless you are a literature/english major this class is a major drag.

Lane Dare is a very rude professor and she does not help you at all. She makes you feel low of a person too. She does not give you enough time to complete her quizzes that she give out. I would not recommend a dog to take her class.

Lane Dare is a wonderful professor if you are ready to work! You will learn so much by the end of the semester but you will need to try. This very well might be your most time consuming class, but it's worth it if you like literature. There's a lot of reading, but are all very informative. Plus you don't have to buy the textbook! Would recommend

Professor Dare was a bit tough for a 100-level course; however, she is definitely worth the extra work. The textbook is printable online, and she requires you to read and print each reading before class. She gives quizzes randomly on the reading. Tough grader, and strict professor, but she allows revisions usually. I learned SO much from her!!!

Comment:

Ms. Dare is very passionate about world literature. You can tell she knows her stuff. However, she is extremely rude. She cuts you off in mid sentence, if you're confused about something she'll basically make you feel like crap for not knowing it. If you ask for help, ignore her sarcasm or rude remarks, and just wait for the answer.
