She is nice but I could not say the same about her course. Notes are not clear, there are MANY long assignments and she is one of the toughest graders I have seen. You could hand in a perfect paper and easily get a D, and she would not even have arguments for that grade. There are so many assignments you don't even have time to absorb the informat

Her notes are super unclear and so confusing, the notes are too complicated and wordy, which do not point out any key points. Hard exams and few spelling mistakes on her notes.

Comment:

Took FSRV 3114 and 3214. If there are other options then avoid her. Much of the information that is needed for this course needs to be obtained online. Her notes aren't clear many times, and most importantly contradictory and confusing, course is harder than it should be because of this. O- chem is easier when compared to this class taught by her!

I found that her test and quizzes are not easy and if you were to google answers for the lab questions, it is not easy to google. She does give feedback on discussion answers and if you have any questions, she will help and answer it for you.

Teachers notes are poor, she lacks alot of information that is needed. A lot of the tests and assignments are hard to answer because I have to google half the answers. Her notes are contradicting. Try to avoid her.

Laura Cullen is easily the worst prof I've had in 6 years of post-secondary education. The course notes are copy pasted together, and filled with errors and contradictions. They are obviously lifted from a few sources, which are not cited (read: plagarized). The weekly quiz always contains marking errors, which she blames on D2L. Avoid this prof.

Comment:

Cons: Hard course, lots of critical thinking on material briefly covered in the notes given. Need to keep up with readings every week. Notes can be confusing at times. Pros: However Laura is very understanding about late submissions, and answers questions with detail and haste. Fast marker too.

She is a great teacher. She is willing to help. When taking online courses, it can sometimes be very confusing, but you have to ask. Just ask. She will help. I would love to take her course again.

She is nice and a fair markers. She understands what she's teaching. I emailed her many times and she was so patient when answering my questions, even during the office hours. Online courses need a lot of effort, you need to keep up with it, dont slack off. Some comments below are really misleading.

I'm really shocked at the comments regarding Ms Cullen...I took a couple of the online courses with her and found that her marking was fair, she was helpful and courteous...I got consistently great marks from her! I think the thing to remember is that online courses really take a lot of determination, motivation and drive.

Ms. Cullen has been known to fail 80% of an incoming year in the Nutrition and Food Service Program at Langara. She is cleary a professional climber who is in this for herself and all the 'mini-me's' she can create.
