Nora was really nice and I felt that she cared about her students but I didn't really like her lecturing style. Also I felt that assignments were not clearly explained or thought out and the finally essay was worth so much. Also class activities were not fleshed out and very rushed--did not feel useful since we had no idea what we were doing.

Nora is a great prof. She's kind, she cares about her students and she doesn't make it difficult to succeed. As long as you show up to class and do the in-class exercises you'll do well.

Nora was probably my favourite prof at UBC this semester. She's super kind, passionate about the subject, and actually wants her students to succeed. The class itself is quite easy, as long as you attend class and take part in the class exercises (participation is worth 40%!) All in all, this was a great class, and Nora was great.

Great prof, she's really engaging with students and makes a real effort of getting to know everyone and provides great feedback! take this course!! it was 5 online blog posts and an essay with a multiple choice final that was exactly from the notes taken in class. Gives lots of opportunities to do well!

Dr. Angeles inspired me to take more courses in the institute of Gender, race, sexuality, and social justice. The topic matter is indeed heavy and controversial, yet, Dr. Angeles manages to navigate this obstacle with respect. Her class felt liberating to talk about issues too often ignored.

I am surprised at the negative ratings! Dr. Angeles was a great professor-- very passionate and always helpful. She wanted all her students to succeed. It was easy to do well in this class if you were willing to put in the time and effort.

Dr. Angeles is inspiring! Her passion and love for what she does shows in her approach to teaching. She's not the most organized prof, but she's always willing to answer questions or just chat. I would recommend this course 100%

I took this class in the last semester of my undergraduate degree and I can say in all honesty that it was the worst class I have ever take. She is unorganized, unclear, unfocused, and incredibly frustrating. I would not wish this professor on my worst enemy. Take 101 with Dr. Almas Zakiuddin instead: same textbook, same topics, way better overall.

Unclear with expectations and boring assignments. Super nice and interesting lectures but it reminded me of high school and was not super motivating. I did not learn anything that I did not already know, but I think that is more a reflection of course content rather than her teaching.

Disorganized. I urge everyone to give her feedback on students evaluations because she needs to expand her scholarship. She claims to include decolonization and anti-imperial critiques of neocolonialism. This course is a letdown in this program. The anticolonial analysis I learned from other courses was not mentored by her.

She was really helpful and really nice. Class was a little reminiscent of high school-lots of group work and poster making, but I think it was a nice break of sorts really! Just go to class and listen, you'll do fine. =)

wow. this class looked SOO interesting, let me tell you how useless it was. Nora is a very nice woman, but these is absolutely NO structure involved, making it extremely difficult to understand what, if ANYTHING is going on. She gives unclear marks criteria and is extremely unprofessional when it comes to student's privacy. do NOT take this course

Nora is wonderful! This is the first time that a prof has been able to help me break down difficult projects into reasonable pieces. She is so conscientious about preparing her students for future work in research or grad school! She is a true mentor. Take advantage of her office hours! You get out of this class what you put into it.

I agree with the previous reviewer. Nora was a very nice professor who seemed genuinely interested in helping, but she changed marking criteria throughout the course and sometimes after assignments were handed in. She took a long time to hand back assignments. And the course had no recognizable structure.

I was very disappointed with this class because the content (gender, globalization & int'l politics) looked fascinating, but the teaching style & organization of the course was horrible! Nora is very nice, but this class was the biggest waste of my time EVER!! Plus, she doesn't seem to respond to e-mails, which is pretty inconvenient.
