40% of the class is based off of two papers that she grades at a 300+ level when it is a 200 level elective for 90% of the class. There is no clear grading criteria, you could cover her rubric well in your paper only to receive a C. 3/4 of my class received c's on both papers. She doesn't explain how they are supposed to be written.

Dr. Maier's class was very enjoyable. We basically just watched and discussed a different movie each week. Every quarter, you have to choose a film to write a critical analysis over, and this is graded pretty strictly. Other than that, the course is pretty much just watching movies (there is a quiz after each film, but it is easy).

Dr. Maier is a fantastic professor!! I have had her for 3 classes and will take 2 more with her this semester. She is incredibly knowledgeable about grammar, culture, writing, etc. and does a great job of explaining these concepts to students. You definitely need to show up to class, but she makes it very clear that she is available for extra help.

I am a Spanish major, and in my opinion Maier is the worst teacher in the department. She grades super tough and is rude to you if she doesn't like you. Don't mention greek life if you're in a sorority of fraternity because she will single you out and grade you harder than the other students. Don't take her for Spanish if you can help it.

She's a real Spanish teacher, she knows her stuff. Hand outs are helpful. Make sure what you turn in has few errors because she grades on accuracy even outlines !!

You can tell that she's really invested in helping her students learn the subject and not just memorize. She's tough with grammar though. Any paper you turn in will be all red when you get it back with corrections. That can be discouraging. However, once you leave her class you'll be leagues ahead of others. Also, don't ever expect to leave early!

As a Spanish major, I was disappointed with the class. We had to read the grammar manual and do exercises, expected, but in class we only went over the exercises, no new learning. The lecture style was monotonous and almost word for word from the book. Over all, Dr. Maier does not really teach, she uses the book and expects you teach yourself.

She made this class way too easy. You literally read a short story or poem talk about until you can't anymore and then get tested on exactly what you talked about. Memorizing authors and time periods were the only "difficult things". Her grading is very unclear though. She never specifies what she takes off for...

She was super helpful in making sure you passed the class. But I would encourage A LOT of outside class study time, and always pay attention in this class. Took her for Spanish 101, and she was always trying to get us to speak it fluently, as well as read and write it.

Very opinionated, always talking. Seemingly must answer every question thrice: "Profesora, como se dice 'zanahoria' en ingles?" "Carrot, mmhmm, carrot, yep, it's carrot, si." Disagree with her and watch her become a bobblehead doll!

Dr. Maier is great, but the difficulty level for 300-level classes actually seems way too low. Either way, she's a clear lecturer with a great attitude toward students. Never mind the busy work, you'll be happy you took her.

not to sure if she was the fairest teacher ever. Her classes felt like they drug on and on. I didn't have a good experience. Its very hard to make an A in her class.

She is reasonable. Her quizes are typically super easy, tests are harder. She is extremely organized. Her grading is fair and made clear on all aspects EXCEPT participation. Plan to speak many times each day if want to do well in that. Otherwise she lacks personality but is a decent choice

After testing into this class I was nervous about not being able to keep up. I was very wrong. Her class was too easy. There were students that still answered questions during class time in English and she didn't reprimand them or tell them to speak in Spanish, because it is a Spanish conversation class. Quizzes were simple if you did the homework.

I think she's a wonderful teacher, who made everything very clear. It has been my easiest class at UAH so for. If you go to class and do your work (by the way, she is pretty lenient about HW, she gives you plenty of time to do it) you will get an A. Her class is fun...not just another lecture class.

She loves what she does, often wearing a shirt that says "Me encanta espaƱol!" She circulates a notepad often if someone needs to make an appointment with her. Her notes are 95% of the time written on the board so if you take notes and read, you

Opinionated (only her opinion is correct ). Her grading policy is undefined and changes as she sees fit, and without notice. A very difficult teacher who I don't recommend.
