Personally, I love sociological theory, so I got a lot out of this class. It's a tough subject though, and Dr. Wang doesn't sugar coat it a bit. Her exams are very hard- know your material! Readings are dense, but she paces it well so you have time to learn it adequately. Her lectures can be confusing at first. She really knows her theory.

Liya is a wonderful professor. SPSS is a hard class IMO because there is much that needs to be covered. Amazingly clear and very helpful. If you pay attention, do you work, and read the book, then you'll be fine

I loved Dr. Wang! She seriously is the nicest person you will ever meet. I had her for gender roles and really enjoyed the class as a whole. A lot of reading is required but the readings are somewhat enjoyable. Classes are all based around discussion. You also have to conduct 2 discussions of your own. Overall, easy.

Very good teacher if you can hear her. So softspoken you should sit near her, but she walks the room, so good luck. SPSS is not my thing. Would be better if a Psych prof taught this subject rather than SOC. But overall, a good person.

I'm not sure why Dr. Wang is getting all this smack. She is probably 1 of the nicest ladies I have met in my life. She really cares about ur grade, that u understand the material instead of just going thru the motions of class,& that ur ife outside of school is going smoothly. The theories r tough n she moves quickly but she tells u the test exactly

Where to begin with crazy Dr. Wang? She knows Sociology but her class is almost a waste of time. Take her if you can because she likes wasting time relating sociology to your life. If the sun is shining class will be outside. Ditto to the comment underneath this one.

Interesting lectures...very. She says you have to read the chapter over and over again and you really don't. Didn't open the book and got a 90 on the first exam. "Computer Labs" are interesting. Wish I was taking her again, tons of group work, likes to share interesting stories!

She is very helpful and will explain something until you understand the concept. Class was never a bore. But make sure that you study, she's kind enough to let you know what you will be tested on, just make sure you know it!

Very easy if you show up and take notes she will basically tell you exactly what is going to be on the test in the review. She is also very interesting and always includes examples and stories when telling about stuff.

Good professor. Expect to read....A LOT!!!! She has a good sense of humor. Fun class. Tests can be hard. Two midterms (she breaks them up) and cumulative Final. (D- on the first midterm) Word of caution: Good luck!!!

Grading is very subjective. Don't expect to get an 'A' just because you do all the work. When you think you know something, she'll say you don't. Just a pain-in-the-ass class, overall.

Nicest and sweetest prof. ever. She is always willing to help. Gives great advice in class and outside of the classroom. Goes very in depth into the material but will not leave anyone behind. Excellent prof.
