Dr. Wilder can be a little grouchy if you don't participate in class. Despite this she can be very sweet and is also very open to different points of views in regards to the class material. She likes to bring in guest speakers which is certainly fun at times.

I had professor WIlder for LAS 150B and enjoyed most lectures. Her class is very straight forward and all tests are based upon lectures and discussion section. Attendance is not taken but I recommend going to discussion sections lead by the TA's who are the ones that grade everything and are really helpful in answering questions. Overall easy A

Latin American Studies 150 B was my favorite class. Dr. Wilder is a professor that is willing to help you if you have questions and the T.A's are always around to help as well. I would recommend taking this class if you are interested in history or Latin American culture. There are weekly assignments but they are not hard. She's an easy grader as w

This was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken at the u of a. It is so interesting. Dr Wilder is really kind and her lectures are a little boring but if you pay attention and do the assignments on time (turn them in during discussions) you will get an A

I thought Wilder was a great professor. There's a lot of reading, and some writing (weekly 1-2 pgs, 2 essay tests, 10-12 pg final paper) but she is a very fair grader. Gives the test questions ahead of time, offers lots of easy extra credit, and she knows the material well. Super nice when you meet with her.

While I was first put off by her, she is actually very nice. This class is not hard although it does require that you do a decent amount of reading. Does 2 in class essay tests but she gives you the questions before and is a pretty easy grader. Overall a good course if you care about the subject.

INDV102 Latin America Studies, really fun and easy! It is a ton of information but the discussions help a lot! Topics are interesting except when it goes all political. If you're familiar with Latin America or are Hispanic, it's the easiest thing. Lots of extra credit and reasonable grading. Laziness is the only way to fail. Really. BEST CLASS.

Dr. Wilder, while an extremely knowledgeable individual, cannot teach. Period. She has a serious problem with respecting people, as she treats many like they are children. She obviously sees herself as being the cream of the human crop and treats those below her accordingly. Steer clear, dear friends. Steer REAL clear of Dr. Wilder.

This teacher is so boring, the class is honestly the worst class ive taken. The TA's think they are better then everyone, and not very helpful, the class is taught by 3 professors, and each one teaches different. Do not plan on passing this class with an A unless it is the only one your taking.

3 part class...Wilder's is the worst BY FAR. She's very slow, and very dull, you have to pick out the important points for yourself. Shes smart but simply cant teach.

Indv 102 was a great class. It covered key topics in Latin America and the readings and lectures were all ever helpful. Dr. Wilder also came to Mexico with our class and it was a great experience. I also had her for an upper division class which was also incredible. There was A LOT of reading, but I learned a lot and had the opportunity to exchange ideas with other undergrads and grad students. Dr. Wilder is also very flexible and understanding when it comes to personal issues. GREAT TEACHER!

First of all, the comment below is ridiculous. Just because she got her PHD, doesn't mean she is a dumbass... Usually PH.Ds infer that someone is smart. Although this teacher is knowledable, she doesn't know how to teach worth****. Her monotonous voice makes you fall asleep in her classes and the material she covers is incredibly boring. Her TA's dislike her as much as her students. Only take this class because it's an easy A or B.. Don't go and expect to learn anything worth while..

This class is useless. TAs are helpful and nice, but they do all the teaching. There were three sections of the class, each "taught" by a different prof. Easy A, but boring material. All that is covered is stereotypes and the economics of Latin America.

I had Wilder for Modern Latin America as well, and I enjoyed her class. I went to her office hours and went on a class trip with her and the rest of my discussion section...to Mexico! She knows a lot and was extremely helpful whenever I talked to her.

Dr. Wilder is very knowledgeable about her field of study. She is interested in the lives of each of her students. She also takes her students on field trips that are relevant to the class. Dr. Wilder is defintely a favorite teacher of mine.
