Bracher is tough and a lot of people don't like him for that, but he really pushes you to think critically. Definitely became a better analytical reader after his class. Passionate, thoughtful, and very wise. Makes readings of dusty old books relevant and thought-provoking. So challenging, but my favorite class of the semester.

I am an English major and have never gotten a single C in my entire career at Kent State. Guess I was wrong about this guy. Mark is the worst teacher I have ever had. He talks nonsense during class and doesnt want to hear anyone else speak. He assigns many pages a day and when we go to take the quiz has nothing to do with the book. Beware of Mark

My absolute favorite professor, I cannot say enough good things. His lectures were truly eye-opening and inspirational. Some students disagreed with his views and were unable to truly understand the power of what he was saying. If you feel you cannot genuinely listen to an opposing viewpoint without getting upset, then this class is not for you.

This was the only class that I've ever gotten a C in. His lectures are dull and long. He assigned one paper, but doesn't give clear guidelines. The worst part was his quizzes- he will test you on unimportant minuscule details of a full length novel- as if that was at all important.

I have evidence he would mark me off for the same exact answer other students got right, He implied I was stupid in class on more than one occasion, and he would never acknowledge me when I did answer things right or wrote well on essays. Very conceded, makes the class a psychology class and shows whenever he can his intelligence. DON'T TAKE HIM.

Mandatory attendance. Very, very vague on the three written assignments. Daily quizzes. Talks very quietly so you have to sit close. Does not allow electronics whatsoever. He went on a half hour lecture of how bad students these days are because one girl was checking her text messages. Told me my life experiences were a "lie" in one assignment.

He's a super nice guy, knows what he is talking about. You have quizzes every single day so do not skip more than once or twice. No tests except the final. Be prepared to read (Sometimes the books are not good either...). Some nights you'll have to read 60-110 pages, others you can read 10-20 if you actually say on top of it. Not that bad.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Bracher is a horrible professor!! Don't take this class without expecting to read 60 pages a night and sitting through horrible lectures. Attendance is mandatory to take the quizzes and you have to participate in order to get participation points (are we in high school..?).

He's a nice person but a pretty bad teacher. His lectures are long and boring, and I really don't feel like I'm getting much from it. I struggle to read 60 pages a night so its hard to keep up, which is mandatory if you want to get a good grade. Sparknotes doesn't always help. The books we read are mildly interesting, but lectures make them dismal.

Dr. Bracher was very knowledgeable about the subject but was very boring. His lectures would put me to sleep and he spoke in a monotone voice all the time. He is also hard to hear so sit close to the front. Overall not an awful class. His papers are very confusing and hard to understand what he wants.

overall a pretty easy class if you enjoy reading everyday. His class was mandatory and with quizzes daily that you can't make up, sick days are not optional. He's very monotone but knowledgeable about the books. His grading on papers was harsh compared to the easy quizzes and his paper outlines were very vague. Not too bad of a class, just not fun

It took all I had not to fall asleep in this class every day. His voice is monotone and boring, and that's if you can even hear him. No matter where I sat in the room I had to strain to hear a word he said.

Professor Bracher is a very interesting and knowledgeable professor. His voice is very monotone and there are quizzes every day in class, but if you are really interested in literature and have no problem with reading upwards of fifty pages a night, you'll live through his course.

Bracher was my Great Books professor when I did post secondary during high school. He's AWESOME. Very very smart, very interesting...you have to come to his class with a love of literature though. He really dives deep into what he's teaching and he makes you appreciate and love every book you read in class.

A very nice man, but not a very good professor in my eyes. His lecture were long and drawn out. Plus, he has a monotone voice (not fun to listen to for 50 minutes). Most of his lectures sounded the same.

He really cares about your grade. He's a nice guy, you can go to him for help. However his classes are long and excruciating. There are quizzes every day so attendance is mandatory- but I was thankful for them. It kept me from procrastinating and skipping class. Good Prof. Wish he was a bit less dull. Seems to be the same lecture every day.

Bracher is a very nice man and it is true that he makes you think about the reading. I think he would be better for graduate work because he assumes everyone cares about literature as much as he does. But he's great!

I thought that he was a really nice man. He knows about the information he teaches very well. he makes you think and encourages the class opinion. DOn't be afraid to say what you think. The mid-term and final are hard but i still liked the class.
