Amazing and quirky professor. Hilarious lectures, always making jokes. A few short essays and allows for rough drafts w revisions. Very clear when grading-might look like chicken scratch, but always available for assistance and to speak about his comments on papers. A few oral presentations, not bad at all.

DO NOT TAKE! He will talk about his son and his cats every single class. If you have never taken Spanish before it will be the most difficult class you will take. Lecture is spoken in Spanish strictly and never English. Assignments are posted on the board in Spanish and you can't read it because of the sloppy handwriting. Only take if you have too!

Okay teacher. Talks about his cats, son, drugs and death in every class. Nice guy, but classes are a cluster of ideas and its confusing. All papers are a rough draft then a final but his edits are illegible. Tests one part short answer then an essay.

Really enjoyed the sequence of 201202 with Prof Mascia! if you put in effort and participate, you'll get a lot out of the class and will get a better grade. the compositions are good because you do a rough draft and he correct it for you to write a final (very clear). Funny guy, deff keeps the class interesting. Definitely have to work to get an A

Went over the same exact thing every single class and he makes you stay until the very last minute. tests weren't too hard, if you took Spanish in high school you should be ok. He can be really immature and innapropriate with his humor but he's nice. was pretty rude and condescending when reponding to my emails.

He's a great teacher, he knows what he's talking about. He has a wacky sense of humor the he uses throughout the class. He can be hard to understand at times but if you as him to explain he is very nice and helpful. He really cares about his students success.

Dr. Mascia is a very good teacher. If you are majoring or minoring in Spanish, I would definitely reccomend him. He is very passionate about what he teaches and always knows how to make the material intersting.

Horrible professor. If you don't know spanish extremely well prior to starting this class you will not do well. 20 points of your final grade are based off of class participation so if your a quiet person he will destroy your grade. He also starts off grading exams very easy then as the semester progresses he will totally change his grading style.

Great teacher. I reccomend him for advanced courses. A lot of work, but if you are interested in the subject it is very helpful. Has helped me improve my spanish ALOT. His classes are very funny and he explains the literature very well.

AWFUL. HATED THIS CLASS. had no desire to ever show up. hated the way he teached. doesnt speak english well. he does have a funny sense of humor and tieing that into lessons. but the online homework did not help prepare for the tests. he didnt help prepare for the tests. picked favorites in the class.only explained things in spanish. DONT TAKE HIM!

always hated spanish until now. best prof. i have had. i was nervous about having the class in all spanish but he is great at getting you to get what he's saying. come to every class and study the reviews @ the end of the chap. and its an easy A. also, better 2 come 2 class 30 min late than missing b/c u only get 2 absence but 3 tardies = 1 absence

His grading policy relies heavily on attendance. If you're late for class, it will affect your grade. If you're the type of person who likes to mosey into class 5 minutes late, don't take Mascia's class. Additionally, if you don't like online homework (which can be easy to forget to do by the due date) or constant 'busy work', don't take his class.

I don't care about any of the other comments on this site...Mascia is the man. He is helpful and always wants to make sure his students know what is going on. Although at times his class lecture is hard to follow, he makes up for it by being a great person. Depending what level u are taking will dtermine whether u are writing papers or taking tests
