This is the worst teacher on the planet! I am a straight A student, and I came close to making a C in this class. She is rude, has impossible expectations, she is absolutely useless as an educator. DO NOT take any classes with Mary Floyd. (ps: she is supposedly retiring this month, let's hope she never resurfaces)

This class was a lot harder than it should have been... She is very picky about everything, is ridiculous about grammar in papers and even discussion board posts, and she is rude when responding to questions. There is a lot of busy work. I would not take a class with her again.

Professor Floyd is very rude and doesn't care to help her students. She talks down to students via e-mail and does not offer help to boost clarity. This class is a lower level history class, which leads one to believe it wouldn't be that difficult to complete. TAKE THIS CLASS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

She is not really that bad. She was tough and I had to work hard, and she cared far more about grammar than she did content. I made an A+ in her class though, so doing well in her class is certainly possible.

Classwork isn't very difficult-reading/map quizzes (you get great study guides), a couple of longer writing assignments (they have tough formatting rules, but the content is graded fairly), and discussion board posts. The exams, however, are ridiculous. Questions are about unimportant factoids. At least she gives lots of extra credit at the end.

I am taking her online course and I can't stand her. This class is supposed to be writing intensive but she only cares about formatting. She is clearly obsessive compulsive about spacing between paragraphs and expects you to follow her unclear instructions. I would never recommend her as a professor. She is very very rude when you ask questions

She is the worst professor i've ever had! Her audio lectures are extremely boring and she sounds like she's reading a script. She is rude when you ask a question. I took this class online so expected more work, but between her map quizzes, reading quizzes, exams, discussion forums and PSA's it was difficult to juggle this with my other classes.

I took Floyd's online Latin America history class. It was extremely detailed and the exams were very difficult. You can get good grades on all the other assignments if you do all the reading and follow the study guides. You will use the textbook. I read the entire thing. This class is not for slackers. Work ahead and get assignments done early.

To be perfectly honest, her classes are not for whiners or slackers who expect to sleep through class and get a good grade. The grading is very specifically mapped out and the student is the only one to blame for their mistakes. Don't expect her give you a break, cut you some slack, or go easy on you, because her classes are for serious students.

Very hard teacher. But nice and tries her best to help. A lot of work and very detailed but i actually learned stuff and i thought it to be interesting. her lectures get boring but what teachers doesnt. Direct and to the point and doesnt hold your hand but if you put in effort and try you will do fine in the class.

absolutely terrible. worst teacher i've ever had. my roommate agrees...we took the class together and suffered immensely. not only was it impossible to comprehend what she was saying, she jumped all over the place in her lectures and didn't make any sense at all. if you are smart, you will not take this class with her!

I had this professor for two classes, and while there is no doubt the workload is tough, you will learn a lot. No one has to take her subject field so I don't know why there's so many negative comments. If you're interested in Latin American history, she definitely knows her stuff.

Horrible lecture skills, bounces around and doesn't really lecture. Reading requirements are ridiculous, and expectations for tests are unreasonable, no in class help. Asks for a textbook a week in reading and regular summaries. Only take if you have no other classes or social life.

I took Dr. Floyd's class online and although I came out with a good grade, I think her assessments are a bit difficult for a sophomore-level course. Her tests are VERY detail oriented. Dates/places/people are hugely specific. There's no way you can reason your way through tests, all of the answers are feasible. Tests/quizzes are very tricky.

Dont take this class if you want to retain sanity. very mean professor.lectures are like one huge outline and never goes into detail. 100 question exms about details in book. basically you have to memorize book word 4 word You will have to sacrifice all of your other classes just to come out okay in this class.Please if you love yourself, stay away

It is funny how we come to college and do not like to work for grades. I believe we are not used to work, so we complain and we complain a lot!
