Absolutely horrible. I along with everyone else in this class had to teach themselves EVERYTHING and still did very poorly on the exams. No book is available for this course so you have to write all the notes down verbatim and then you might still fail the exam. Take math 170 if possible, his class is not worth the struggle.

Comment:

Complicates the material wayyy to much. His teaching style is very hard to me to learn from. I end up teaching myself half the time! He stated there are no other resources for the course besides himself and his website, which didn't help me. Lectures are boring. Take 170 instead of 172 if you want an A.

He is an incredibly difficult teacher, most likely because I decided to take the honors version of this class. However, he is an extremely thorough professor, and this is an extremely important class. If you want to do well in the future of your math courses, this is the course and professor. If not, take someone else. He may be the Buell for Math.

The worst professor ever. STAY AWAY!!! He takes forever to grade and is unwilling to do anything that will slightly inconvenience him. Seriously doesn't care about his students and is condescending and unhelpful.

If you don't understand something presented in lecture, ASK HIM ABOUT IT. The final is made up of problems from the tests, the tests are made up of quiz problems, the quiz problems come from lectures. Do the homework for the sake of the homework grade, but focus on taking good notes.

Literally went to class everyday and still failed. His voice is so hard to pay attention to. You basically have to teach yourself everything because he teaches it the hardest way possible. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Lectures are tough. Pretty dry and speaks from start to finish (sometimes well after class has ended). Tries to make students participate, but usually no one understands so it becomes a painful drag. Very bad at answering students' questions- you'll be more confused after you ask. Overall communication is awful- always on a different page.

This class is easy. Do the worksheets to prepare for the quizzes, study the quizzes to prepare for the exams, and study the exams to prepare for the final. He can be rude when you ask him questions, but usually he tries to help. He provides a good deal of extra credit. He also puts bonus questions on all his quizzes and exams.

He doesn't care about the students. He gives a lot of homework, but he only grades about 10% of the problems. If he is going to give that much homework a least grade it. I would recommend taking a different professor!

I've had this man for 2 of my classes MATH544 & MATH546 (not by choice of course). He is by far my least favorite teacher. This box is not big enough for me to say everything. The examples & homework he gives are based mostly on proofs. He grades too many concepts at once, and gives too much homework, but only 10% of it is graded. Hate

I'm not a math genius by any means but this class was hard for me. I made a B+ in both Calc 1 and Calc 2 but came out of this class with a C. his quizzes and exams are hard and do not reflect the problems in the book. the way he words certain questions can be confusing and tricky. take someone else if you value your gpa.

I feel like I actually learned a lot in the class, but I didn't understand most of it until after I would take the exams. He would be a good teacher for geniuses. But for us normal people--take someone else.

Really don't like this class. He tells you a bunch of stuff you don't need to know. Makes you do groups projects. Homework assignments and due dates are confusing because of the crappy website he uses for his syllabus. Example tests and quizzes are old, and he'll admit some of the problems on them aren't close to what will be on our test. UGH!

Miller's class is horrible. Do NOT take it if you don't have to! take 170 instead! he makes everything ridiculously confusing. he seems like a pretty nice guy, but the class sucks.

Awful at teaching, even the other professors in the department will apologize when thy find out your taking his class. Great at talking to the blackboard and writing down everything he says...not so great at conveying the topic to the class. When 1/2 or more of your class fails the test...its a good sign your a bad teacher.

Wow. This man is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. He can't do simple math to save his life, and he will spend the whole class talking about one problem that is in no way ever going to be on a quiz/test. DO NOT TAKE him unless you really don't care about your GPA or don't mind working really hard. He is absolutely horrible.
