Only teacher for med micro. Shes a little intimidating to talk to and goes VERY fast during lecture. Tests were hard but she usually scales them. 4 tests, 1 lab practical, 1 project. Labs are twice a week and only lasted 45 mins at most. Shes nice but she expects you to understand everything shes saying. Study hard and youll pass

I love Micro and Dr. Pavao! I learned more in this class (mainly because of lab) than any other class I've taken so far. Some of her exam questions can be a bit off topic but if you study you should be able to figure it out! No hw, no quizzes, just labs and exams to focus on. She is a bit intimidating at first but she's actually super approachable!

Dr. Pavao was a fair but tough grader when I had her for Microbiology (memorizing concepts before exams). In Tissue Culture, it was a totally different and tougher grader. She will not teach Tissue Culture next year (Spring 2020) but thankfully I passed with a "C" even though it does not reflect the amount of studying I did (similar exam Q's).

Comment:
Professor Pavao is lenient towards lab grades, and labs are easy. This was my first time doing all labs solo, which helped me. My advice for the exams is write the answers to the study guides one week in advance, so you can be very confident of passing the tests with review (thats how I got a B). The final, even though its cumulative, is fair.

This professor is a real gem!!!! Shes the best bio professor I have ever taken. Her lectures are very interesting. Shes very clear in what she wants you to know. If you do her study guide and study really hard you will pass with an A. I do not regret the class I have taken with her, I wished I could take all my bio classes with her.

I had Professor Pavao for a winter session class BI112 and it was quite intense but she explained everything thoroughly and let you know how she wants things to be done. It was just for 9 days so there was 2 assignments everyday which you get 24hrs to get it done. She gives feedbacks. just study, watch the videos, and you will do just fine

I have had Dr. Pavao for a few courses now and never regretted taken her for any of them. Her lectures are long but she tries to make them interesting with throwing in information on experiments that have been recently done that are on the same topic. She can be a tough grader sometimes, but if you show up for lecture and lab, you should be good.

Some of the material can be hard, it's a lot of memorization. She kind of yells at you, not in a rude way, she's actually very nice but has a loud voice in lecture. She's very fair with assignments and if you study the study guides well the exams shouldn't be too bad, although they are difficult. Her lab is good too, she's an excellent prof.

This teacher was a real gem. There was a lot of material covered in the course of just six weeks since it was a summer course for me but there are plenty of opportunities to do well with her. Exams are not that difficult if you study and labs are an easy 100. Study, put in effort, and you'll not be disappointed. She knows her stuff!

Comment:
The class was difficult due to vague lectures and study guides for exams, not because of difficulty of the contents. For example, she sometimes talked about random diseases in the class and put them in the exams, but never spelled them out on the board and only mentioned once. Grading rubric for exams was also not clear.

Lectures were too fast with no depth. Need really strong bio background and you will teach yourself with the textbook to do well in the class. Lab practical is difficult because she does not really teach, and there aren't enough materials in the book to study in depth.

It was my absolute misfortune to have this professor. Complete disorganization, lack of communication was unreal, more importantly the work load that was given was ridiculous for and online class . WILL NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN

I was terrified to take a lab science, esp. having to work full time, but this was an awesome class. Dr. Pavao made the class fun and interactive, and the labs were all really interesting and easy to follow. She was very helpful and a very fair grader. I would recommend this class with her to anyone, especially someone who struggles with Science

She's a good teacher but she is very unclear when it comes to explaining labs. She says one thing and you do it, and then yells at you later because what she originally suggested isn't correct.

Class is a lot of memorization. As long as you study you'll be set. There are no trick questions. The lab isn't difficult either. There are a few small assignments outside of class you need to do. Study and you'll be fine. If you don't you'll do bad

She gets irritated easily and is very difficult to negotiate with. The listed chapters in the syllabus does not match assigned textbook. I have not had this much trouble preparing for exams in a course previously. She is extremely unorganized in all aspects of her class (including lab, flys through material and no clarity of what to expect on exams
