Dr. K. is laid back and very easy to get along with. He speaks in a way that's slow, but not dull and sophisticated, but makes an effort to emphasize the specifics. His big thing is to take risks. Even if your answers are completely wrong, if you support your arguments he'll respect your opinion and for that will consider you to be just as right.

Comment:

Great teacher, clearly very passionate about what he does. He explains things well, so you understand it even if you know absolutely nothing about music prior to the class. Definitely would recommend him!

You cannot say anything bad about Dr. K. He is extremely nice a very easygoing! He gives multiple quizzes, no tests, and you have to do 2 participant observation essays which are basically telling him how your experience at a concert was! Recommend him 100%.

Dr. K was great!! This class was so much fun and as long as you took great notes and paid attention in class then you did well. There are only 3/4 tests which are hard if you don't study. I learned so much from Dr. K and urge you to take him for this class!

This guy is the man, he loves what he does and truly puts all of himself into his teaching, he's a really nice guy, he even wrote me a letter of reccomendation to a college which i got accepted to. He assigns a lot of reading but you dont need to do it, his classes are almost always him going over what we should've of read and giving notes on it, y

Get him if you can, however if you arent willing to work hard in his class, you will NOT just breeze through. He teaches well, makes you love it, and he knows his stuff. He is willing to do anything to get you to understand and love the topic too. If you are not into learnming music theory though, then these classes will be tough.

Yeah, he's a cool guy and what not, but how many times a class does he say that rock and roll traces back to west africa? And what serious musician wasn't aware of that already? We get the point K: THERE IS NO AMERICAN MUSIC WITHOUT WEST AFRICA!!!!

He knows what he's talking about and is real enthusiastic about music. Definitely an excellent teacher. He was even a drummer for the Grateful Dead for a little while. Cool guy. He's really straightforward about the info on the tests, so if you study, you will do good.
