I personally enjoyed this class. There are alot of readings but it's really not that bad. 4 papers and final is only worth 5%. I enjoyed his humor and he was EXTREMLY helpful!! I learned how to be a better writer from this class.

At first I hated Professor Overman, he is a very harsh man. He has a sense of humor but if you are sensitive at all then I would not suggest taking this class. He cursed at us and was not very uplifting. By the end of the semester I did end up liking him but most of my classmates did not.

I enjoyed this class. 4 papers throughout the semester, all perfectly spaced out. Plenty of time to do them. If you can write well, this class will be a breeze. Make sure you do the assigned readings. He will randomly quiz you. Lectures were boring but useful to understand the readings. Has a dry sense of humor, which I personally like.

do not take him if your not good at english. i did terrible in his class he grades really hard. if your good at english im sure youll be fine but if not avoid him. doesnt take attendance, but gives random quizzes. no note taking or homework, just discussion in class on the readings

Looking back- my favorite teacher of all time. This was my first college class, and I was intimidated at first (Lot's of books and papers) but he is just a laid back and fun prof to have class with. Don't be intimidated. Take this class and enjoy it.

He's a little crazy, but if you do the reading and speak up in class, he'll like you. He has a dry sense of humor, but he's pretty rude (He called me a smartass in front of the whole class), but he does know what he's talking about. Take him if you're an English major, but otherwise, unless you particularly enjoy writing paper, avoid this man!!!

I loved this class! I was terrified at first but he just puts up a front to weed out the slackers. I learned so much and I would definitely say this is one of the best ENG teachers I've had. He tells you exactly what he wants in the papers so you can't go wrong unless you're an idiot.He has a quirky sense of humor but you get use to it.

He didn't return papers to us in a timely manner, it was hard to tell what your final grade was going to be. Very intimidating in the classroom setting- will call out and pick on students. Nice guy outside of the class room, willing to help if you approach him. If you take him, be prepared for a challenge, and don't take what he says personally.

I absolutley loved this class. The man speaks his mind, and you are encouraged to do the same (as long as the comments are revalent and not redundant). I learned so much. The book choices are long but very interesting. Talk to him outside of class and get to know him. I made an A an I HATE english.

He's intimidating at first but he lets you know up front exactly what is expected. This class is purely open discussion based, READING and writing papers. I got a D+ on my first paper, learned from my mistakes and got an A on 5 of the 6 papers. If you follow the essay prompts, which he tells you EXACTLY what to do, you'll be okay. He teaches well!

He only returned 1 out of 5 papers to us the whole semester. The papers are hard and books are hard to read to. You have to read 6 fairly lengthy novels. Then write a 3 to 4 page essay. He will help you with the essay, but i still made a C on every paper when i went to see him. This class ruined my 4.0 GPA. I would not take him!

Looks like Willy Wonka. Good guy, understanding, VERY OPINIONATED. Since it's HIS class, he'll do/say whatever comes to his mind, offensive or not, he tries to make you nervous in the beginning about his grading and all but he's not bad, really. YOU READ A LOT OF BOOKS that are just freakin out there. He is a challenge, stay away if youre sensitive

YOU WILL HATE his class!!!! He is way too hard. If you have NO LIFE, take his class so you can read the millions of boring books he assigns. I'm a good English student but taking his class stole all my credibility as an ''A'' student. Don't take his class, unless you want to read boring books, write papers, and miss out on college!!!

Probably one of my favorite professors ever, looks EXACTLY like Willy Wonka, but he gets you extremely interested in the class with his unique point of view but can also be very intimidating.... NEVER say 'I don't know' when he asks you a question, start talking about the weather before you say you don't know and you'll be fine.

Overman is very intimidating at first, but don't let him fool you. He's actually one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He'll go out of his way to help you however he can, he grades leniently on the papers, and all of the books he selects to read are great. If you have to take ENG 102, take his class.

Good Prof. The class is only writing papers and a few quizzes. Lots of reading. Over all good teacher. Interesting lectures. Will help you with papers if you have the nerve to ask.
