He gives random quizzes every class so you have to go to every single class and read every article. An even bigger problem is that most of the articles are self explanatory so a lot of the lectures aren't needed. The articles also get a whole lot more boring as the year goes on. BUT the final and midterm are INCREDIBLY easy.

The class isn't hard, but they guy is so boring. Pretty opinionated also. Just go to class (attendance is mandatory and quizzes are given weekly), but make sure you can commit to going.

Lousy, disorganized and annoying. Took 3 weeks to get our test back, curses during lectures and really does not teach us much. My grade in the class is fine (A-), but still I do not recommend this class. He is not available to students and honestly, I don't even see the point in having a sociology department if he will take over, and I am a major.

This guy can not stop talking about sex, and is still extremely boring. He always gives a pop quiz and has a major attitude. He says "right" several hundred times a class (we have bored ppl taking tallies each time), and makes this class so much more annoying than it should be. Take a real class, this ones a joke.

this guy is an awesome teacher and the class was extremely interesting. honestly, i consider this guy and this class one of the best teachers/classes i've had/taken in college. not extremely easy, but if u go to class and do the readings you'll be fine. highly recommended

This class is an easy A if you do the readings and attend class (attendance is mandatory). Quizzes are given at least once a week and make a big part of your grade. There's one paper and a final. The class was interesting in the beginning, but started to get quite boring toward the end.

The class started off interesting, but slowly became boring. The lectures are based off the readings and so are the pop quizzes (which are given once a week). If you do your readings and go to class, it will be an easy A. There's one take home essay that counts for a midterm and one final that it is m/c.

prof is a cute man, you can tell that he loves soc. but class is boring! lots of class discussions if you like that kinda thing. depends what subjects you like/few lectures actually interested me. 'pop' quizzes, very simple just skim through readings to do well.

Easy grade but terrible class. I would avoid him. For my class, I had it twice a week and he would give a quiz and attendance each week. Also be prepared to hear him say "right" at least 500 times a class.

I can't stand this man. He is rude and obnoxious. All he does is try to ask cool like he is a teenager again but he doesn't listen and only likes you if you agree with his views. If you just want to pass a class it is fine, but if you like Sociology and getting involved, avoid him. He is terrible and rude and ugh...

Easy A/B, but really boring. The class started out fun with heated debates but then he just lectured through class. Topics included men's roles, global inequality, disasters, and hip-hop. This class would be better if you didnt want to rip the hair out of your head, but it's an easy grade.

Lot of reading but its interesting. quizzes on the reading, a multiple choice final and a 1000 word mid term paper...light workload for a 300 level class. Schwartz knows what he is talking about...def recommend this class.

He's a great professor. Loves to teach and presents the material in a very liberal way but with a lot of knowledge to back it up. You need to go to class because that's where most of his tests come, he takes attendance, & gives quizzes. He gives one easy paper to write, but u have to go to class to do good on the midterms, which aren't too bad.

The only thing worse than staring at his stupid bald head is listening to the filth that comes from his mouth. How can a bald loser think hes so great. Im never expericed such anal clawing pomposity in my life. With this jerk its his way or the wrong way, in reality his ideas and beliefs are stupid.

This professor is great. He is fun,and he urges class discussions rather than him lecturing all the time. It's an easy class to pass. Just make sure you read and pay attention to his lectures. He gives pop quizzes, like once a week on the readings, and the mideterm is a breee. make sure you study carefully for the final its more on his lectures.

A great professor. I wasn't really interested in taking a Sociology course, but it was part of my LRN program, so I took it - and I'm glad I did! He is an incredibly intelligent, highly-educated professor. Class discussions are fun (although sometimes he does ramble a bit). I'd say about 90% of the readings hold your attention. RECOMMENDED!
