Dr. Walsh is a very good professor. His knowledge of film studies is unparalleled to anyone at the University in my opinion. Ive had him a few times. Film Analysis is a difficult class, as he makes you work for your grade. Everything else he teaches is simple if you put in some effort. Its too bad he will be on sabbatical during my final year :(

A professor that needs to replacement. Film isnt a major unlike business school. As others mentions he does try to make the classes more difficult than what they are so students have encountered issues because of his combative grading abilities. He even disrespects the honor students and has several behavioral issues as mentioned. Not recommended.

Attitude adjustment and evaulation. Never miss any assignments did well but gave an issue on a test. Very nitpicky and basically acted as if student incompetent, resulting in a low grade. When questioned why got on the defense. Negatively affected gpa in a course that shold have been a B. Grade is inaccurate reflection and now on transcript. Thanks

I've had Professor Walsh for two semesters back to back, and I find him to be my favorite professor at UHart. He makes you work for your grade although he makes himself available to those who need help understanding the material. If you are looking to learn more about the study of film then I would recommend his classes.

Good Professor but his one time impression of Samuel. L Jackson was so inaccurate and hilarious that it made me take one of his classes every semester. It is an incredibly weird and amusing experience to listen to this man talk for and hour every class and some how turn the discussion to Bringing up Baby or His Girl Friday every time.

We watch a 2 hour movie every class with about a half hour of the teacher talking. Attendance shouldn't be mandatory. Enyone can watch a movie at home but if you skip 2 classes for any reason you fail. He makes the classes as hard as possible to justify his profession.

He is awesome! Really interactive and knowledgable. People don't like him because many non cinema or communication students take it with him and are shocked at the amount of work the major actually requires. He does grade essay really tough but he's always willing to help and gives everyone the opportunity to re-write essay's.

Good guy, knows what hes talking about in class so its easy to learn. Not so great with the technology though so he kinda gets frustrated sometimes but its pretty funny. Do the work and you'll be fine, slack and you might be in trouble

Took this class as an easy elective. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This is not an easy class. This is compatible to a high level literature class but with movies. This class should definitely be classified as a 300+ level class.

Really everyone should get an A in this class but the teacher is so nit picky about answers its rediculous. He does this to rationalize the class since it should be an easy A. He also has a hot temper and can bust into yelling at a moments notice especially when he thinks someone is accusing him of something. Would not recommend.

This is more of a writing class than film. He grades on grammar not content. 2 missed classes and he drops you from the course. He is very defensive when you talk to him one on one. Be sure from the start to say everything is your own fault or he will think you are criticizing him and will take it personally.

Good teacher. Talks a LOT but helpful usually. just do the in class work and talk. study exactly the exam study sheets and youll do fine. He does however grade the papers really harshly. He told me I had the best paper in the class and I got a B. I ended up with an A- though. overall not the hardest class. Id recommend taking it May term. easy A/A-

Pompous. A self-absorbed critic to the full extent of the term. Far too lavish and opinionated. A positive is that he maintains a hardworking environment and does his best to offer challenging course work.

This professor is hell. He is the hardest professor I've ever had. He doesn't grade people based on a point system, he grades people based on what he thinks of you.

Wonderful professor. Loved his classes. He's very no nonsense so slackers beware (and stop complaining here). Know the subject matter and the history of the class you're taking so you can hold an intelligent conversation in class.

Great teacher. Brings up interesting conversation topics, and is hilarious. Better to get on his good side, or it can get ugly. He gives a lot of assignments, but as long as you give them an honest effort and do what he asks, he will grade well. He is extremely inteligent as well, and his knowledge or foreign languages and films never ceases to amaze. Over all, one of the best prof. at uha.

I took an honors class with Prof. Walsh. I really enjoyed it; his questions in class were always really interesting and challenging. He also introduced me to Antonioni's 'Blow Up', one of the best movies ever. He is pretty fair with grading-this is not
