Dr. Webster's classes are difficult, but you learn more in his classes than you will in any other. He makes you think carefully and critically about your reading and writing--you aren't merely memorizing facts but must have a good understanding of what you're learning. His classes are excellent if you want to learn, not if you want to be lazy.

This class is very easy to pass and can be interesting if your class actually understands the material. Mostly discussion based. A lot of reading but you can get away with just skimming/not reading at all. We had a few major assignments that were pretty simple and we got to choose our topics. He was a very easy grader super helpful and very nice.

Very test heavy, attend his classes and type your notes on a computer and youll be fine. The test material is half lecture and have book so youll need to be prepared but the final is all of his test combined so be sure to do what you can after taking the test. More than willing to clear anything up out of class and a really caring professor.

In contemporary Sociological Theory 4153, be prepared to read and understand the textbook. The tests are half what he tells us in lectures and half textbook. Ask questions in class, if you skip, you will not do well on the test as a lot of it is what he says in class is on the test. Only 4 tests and a final so test heavy.

I thought this class was going to be super interesting, however he assigns a TON of scientific articles to read and discussions are pretty boring. He's a nice guy but he expects way too much.

At first, I didn't understand a word during his lecture. So I started recording the lecture and this really helped a lot. His lecture are actually very interesting and detailed when you pay attention. You really do need to work for your grade and the tests are tricky. But he is a great professor who knows what he is talking about. Learned much!

4 quizzes worth 30 points, drops lowest & the final is over half of your grade! These are, by far, the HARDEST quizzes that I've ever taken, even though they are open noteopen book. VERY tricky. Not a fan of the lectures. Hoping to come away with an A, but we'll see. Does not take attendance, but lectures seriously help. DO THE READINGS!

He seems nice and all the exams are online. That's the only reason I took the class. Worst decision I've made this semester. You need to have general knowledge of the theories in order to understand his lectures. The Tests are so hard. The questions are so tricky, you can't cheat even if you wanted to. He does give you some bonus questions though.

Most difficult Sociology class I've ever taken at UNCC. I have a 3.9 GPA, and am currently looking at C in this class... the first and only C that will be on my transcript. I read all assigned articles, attended all classes and still found the tests to be nearly impossible. Only take this class if you have NO OTHER OPTIONS, you'll regret it.

This professor is pretty easy. He doesn't use a book instead he uses articles. Honestly, I only read one article the whole semester and made an A in the class. It is not required to come to class but he likes to give out exam questions randomly to reward those who come to class. All of the exams are on-line and open note, and they are very weighted

Instead of a textbook, he uses 30 scholarly articles. These are challenging to read but the exams are open articles, open notes, open internet. This class is not an easy A but if more professors in Sociology taught like Dr. Webster it would have a better reputation at UNCC.

He is a very sweet man & extremely smart. He knows what hes talking about but it isnt explained clearly at all. Our first test class average was a failing grade. I've never struggled with a class so much, unless you NEED this class I advise you not to take it.

I really don't like this class. There's no book, which is good, BUT all the readings are reallly boring and overly technical articles online. The tests are open note, but that really doesn't help like you would think it would. I am an A student in everything, but on the first test I made a low B and on the second I made a low C. The class averages

Ok, so here's the deal: he gives you 500 possible points, but he grades on only 300 of those points, you only need 270 points for an A. He is a really nice man.VERY smart, member of MENSA.Only criticism I would make would be that sometimes he is so smart that he doesn't explain things fully because he assumes you can connect the info like he can.

Very nice and personable man. No book is required, but the readings are online. Lots of notes but they are also online in powerpoints. You can use all material like notes, powerpoints, and articles on the midterm and final. Only other grade is in-class writings which will make up for the grades on exams which are confusing. It's really not hard

A simple subject made difficult ... Here are some stats provided from our midterm... Mean-56, Median-54, Top 10% were above 62...Webster blames the students for these grades, not the unreasonable difficulty of the test. I have an A in molecular biology, and made a 64 on this exam. DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE.

The easiest 4000 level class you will ever take. Sometimes his lectures are a bit too fast and unorganized, but overall pretty effective. The text is horrendous..try to find summaries of that stuff online; it helps. Guest speakers are awesome. Dr. Webster is a cool guy and I really enjoyed his class.

the class was interesting having guest speakers such as a dominatrix and her slave boy...BUT, he is absent minded sometimes and misplaces work. The tests are often unclear and he does not cover all of the material on them and since our text book is unclear and is just alot of articles about our subject matter the guidelines of the class are unclear

I got an A without using the book. Take good notes and you'll pass the exam. Keep both exames because he use the same questions on th final.
